Has anyone received anything in the mail regarding the Siemens AP Award? Apparently last year, they started mailing out "confirmation" letters (basically, letters asking if you're still in high school and willing to receive the award, etc.) to students around this time (I think 11/19 or 11/18).

I haven’t. I’ve taken 7 of the tests and gotten 5s on 6 though…so someone in my state might have beaten me (WA is a fairly competitive state).

I haven’t either. I’m from Ohio and scored a 5 on all 8 tests. Ohio typically doesn’t take all 5 to win, but it sometimes does…so I assume I’m in the running

Lol wait… There are at least 5 kids at my school (it’s a public school) with all 5’s on 7+ ap exams… Is this a competitive award?

^It’s not any AP exams, it’s a specific set of 8 AP exams: Bio, BC, Chem, Comp Sci, Environmental Science, Physics C (both), and Statistics.

Ah, interesting. Never heard of this award! Cool

I have taken 7 of them in a not-too-competitive state, so I think I have a good chance of receiving the award. However, I haven’t received anything yet. =(

Wow, I’ve never heard of this before! Thanks :)

D: This sounds like such a great opportunity. Some AP courses aren’t available in our school like AP Physics and AP Chemistry, so it’s probable that no one in my school will be able to win, unless they self studied.

Has anyone gotten anything? Sorry, I’m just a bit nervous :P

Nothing here…I wish I could just know!

JUST GOT A LETTER FROM VA

Says I’m being “considered” for the award, and attached is a form with some basic personal and school info.

This means I got it, right?

^Yeah, I think so, congrats! When was it postmarked? And how many relevant 5’s did you get?

I received a similar letter, but I find it unusual. I live in a fairly populous and competitive state, and I only took 5 of the 8 qualifying tests. I did get all 5’s, but still, it seems pretty strange for my state. Maybe because I am female? Are people sure that getting a letter means you have definitely received the award?

Being considered means you qualified (I think it is like get a 4+ on at least 3 of the exams, but idk) but you haven’t won yet.

Good luck though!

@Apollo11 What are your sources?

[Siemens Foundation - AboutSAAP](<a href=“Siemens Foundation - About us - USA”>Siemens Foundation - About us - USA)

You need at least a 5 on two of the 8 listed exams.

Yes, but I don’t think everybody with 2 5’s is being alerted. Based on past threads (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/813950-siemens-ap-award.html?highlight=ap+siemens+award and http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/1356238-mits-view-ap-siemens-award.html?highlight=ap+siemens+award) I think it’s a safe assumption they only send out letters to winners. In the case of @armavirumquecan0 I know the # of exams it takes fluctuates +/- a few every year. Judging from profiles of past winners girls tend to have less exams than boys. Unless you’re in California or something, I wouldn’t be thatt surprised. Congrats!
