If I received a letter indicating that I am being "considered" for the award, what does that imply? As in, how many people are also being considered?

For reference, I'm in Ohio, and received 6 5s on relevant math/science APs.

I also got the letter, also with 6 5s, and I was wondering the same thing.

Any idea when the results will be announced?

I also got the letter. Did you guys also get an email requesting a picture and some forms to fill out?

The email something about the specifics being announced mid December

Google is your friend

[Siemens Foundation - Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement](Siemens Foundation - Siemens USA)

@reechar: I did not get that email, hopefully because they don’t have my email yet. How long after responding to the letter did you get the email?

@swimcatsmom: I’d hope you have enough confidence in humanity to trust that kids who can handle AP classes are also capable of Googling. Unfortunately, the website does not mention the letters.

@reechar - I also got the email, with a consent form questionnaire. Does this imply you’ve won at the state or national level? (Are there other awards out there?)

How long ago did you guys get the email?

@munchybunch: Well seeing as how we both got the consent form and questionnaire, it probably implies nothing about whether the award is at the state/national level.

@lidusha: probably a week afterwards

I looked at the website provided by swimcatsmom. It says

The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement are awarded each year to students with the greatest number of scores of 5 on eight AP math and science exams, as well as to one teacher from every state for excellence in teaching AP mathematics, science, and technology courses.

So I wold assume that all you have taken at least 8 Science and Math AP’s. Just given the national competition, I am sure there are some students who have 5’s in 8 Science and Math AP’s. Hence if you have 6, I would assume it is more likely to be state than national.

Out of curiosity, was anyone initially called about the award? After getting a phone call, they e-mailed me a set of forms that seem to be similar to those previously mentioned. I still haven’t received anything in the mail.

For reference, I’m from Hawaii and got 7 5s.

I’m pretty sure this is state; there are way more than two names in the email list. I suspect they’ll email the national winners separately.

I got it in Oregon with only 5 5’s.

Yay! I just got an email. 6 5s in PA. :D

Eight 5s in Michigan! Just got the letter on Saturday

Is the Siemens AP Award given for most 5s on the exams taken in one year or can you receive it if you got all 8 over 2 years?
