Did anyone else get a letter from collegeboard about the "Siemens Award for Advance Placement"? If so, does that mean that you got the award or are just a candidate? Also, does this warrant an update?

Did you turn in the initial form and get back a release form and bio form to fill out? If so, then I think you got the award.

I wouldn’t update colleges until it’s officially announced.

Not yet. I just sent in some biographical information and stuff about my school. I just got the form today…

I sent in my form a week ago, haven’t received anything yet. To anyone, please post if you hear from Siemens!

I just heard back from Siemens today. I won for my state!

Congratulations! I still haven’t gotten an email from them, not sure what that means…

Why don’t you call the number on the letter?

do you have to get a 5 in all 8 of those exams in a single year to win it? And what would they do in a tie?

No. The award counts all the years you’ve been testing. However, it only counts exams taken up through May of your junior year, because you must still be in high school the next spring when the award is given.

The boy and girl with the most 5s on those 8 exams wins in each state. They break ties by using raw scores (which schools, students, and parents never see).
