Significant factor to college application

I’m applying REA to Notre Dame. I’ve just created a kickstarter for my new online business… BUT the expected date to publish it is Nov 7th. Will I be able to add that I’ve made a kickstarter as proof for my business on my common app activities list and to show the credibility of my business with the projected amount of funding AFTER Nov. 1st?

If so, should I post the link to my kickstarter on the additional information section on my common app or what?

Also, can I prove my business’s worth/credibility/reputation through the amount of money I receive through funding on my Kickstarter? We’re expecting for it to reach about 200-400K. We haven’t made that much progress with the company because we’ve practically just finished developing it and now ready for funding.

Why even go to college if you are making that much already O.o

  1. You're not going to get 200-400K.
  2. Do you have any employees? If not, consider not saying "I have a company that does X" but rather "I do X". Calling it a company may smell of over-inflation if it's just you, or just you and a friend. *Everyone* is claiming they started a company these days.
  3. If you haven't made that much progress with the company, consider not mentioning it at all.

What are your other ECs?

@cappex It’s an estimate haha.

@NavalTradition 1)My team has already spoken to some highly known venture capitalists and estimated the kind of success that our business will have in the future and although that amount is still a high reach, it’s certainly possible for the business concept that we have in mind.

  1. We hired freelancers if that counts. Also, we have multiple departments of workers, such as HR, security, marketing, etc.

  2. Considering that amount of hard work and sweat that we’ve been through, I’d at least like to mention it on my apps.

President of DECA, Key Club, Stock Market Club
Business marketing internship at a import-and-exporting company
Paid programmer for a web-designing company for two summers
Soccer coach/trainer for elementary/middle school students
Competitive ballet for ~10 years (I’m a male btw)
Raised a collection drive for a 501c-nonprofit organization by collecting 100s of glasses
Other EC’s such as highschool soccer, track, etc.

bump!

Are you applying for college admission or for venture capital?

@GMTplus7 I asked this primarily for college admission as of now.

Of course I know you are asking this for college admissions. The point I am trying to make is that the AdComms are not going to be looking at your business’ balance sheet.

You can’t project what it will earn. You should only list specific accomplishments to date. If something significant happens, you can email admissions with that information.

@GMTplus7 Haha, I figured, but I wasn’t too sure because depicting sarcasm through a screen of text can sometimes twist my mind a bit.

@intparent If my business’ Kickstarter goal is about 250k and it happens to so reach over that amount by the end of the funding period, would that be considered a noticeable accomplishment (showing that other people also believe in our business concept through the amount of $$ being funded)?

I guess you could report it. Raising VC or Kickstarter money doesn’t mean you have done anything yet. So don’t count on it to boost your app by much.
