Do NOT rush your scores unless the adcoms say to. Usually they will accept scores taken shortly before or after the postmark deadline.

Really, they don't usually start reading your EA/ED application until December.

My teacher and counselor has no idea how to use the CA system and she's unwilling to learn how to use it. And I have no idea how I'm going to send my secondary school report online as well as the ED declaration form because I can't sign on it, and I would need my counselor to sign on it as well.

You send recommendations through the mail. Usually the CA will say which parts have to be mailed. For example, I sent my fee-waiver letters through the mail (or rather the school did). Also, if it comforts you, I only really started doing my common apps around December 20 of 2007 for my RD schools. Yeah, that was one hell of a Christmas vacation, but it worked out okay for me in the end. ;) The guidance counselors helped AFTER I sent the app, for example, dealing with financial aid issues, scholarships, proof of residency issues, etc. But GC's don't really help with CAs anyway.

please look at my post right after frankchn. already mentioned that the adcoms said to rush SAT results but didnt mention how.

I think there is an option on the collegeboard website to rush scores when you specify the colleges you want to send to.

sigh i think i screwed up the name fillling part ><

aiyah d, you can call them XD

since all yew ib/a level kids are beeeezy mugging your poor heads off, i shall declare it my personal responsibility to keep this thread buzzing. ^^ pity yew poor souls. muacks

with contributions from frankchn, screwitlah, and galoisien who are respectively "protecting our nation" and chillin' in jersey and virginia (cooountry roads)

im still in singapore waiting for my ORD :)

and eh, the name part doesn't matter that much for visa. you could just explain ur situation to ur college and ask them to issue you a I-20 with your passport name. my princeton mates did it without trouble i think. now with the huge time zone difference it's gonna be difficult to ask them

but then of coz has to be consistent everywhere. im concerned like transcript, teacher recs, if you use SALLY TAN LIYING but in the sat you use SALLY TAN.

if the colleges are unable to match the SATs to your file you could always call them up and instruct them to match them manually.

transcript etc agar agar can already. just make sure the envelope and each sheet bear your application name.

If you post your SAT scores on your common app, etc. it's unlikely that two Sally Tans will have the exact same score. They will look it up from there.

That's actually not exactly true, the part that they will look it up. I have the name problem becasue I signed up for my SAT account way before I knew of this problem, so last year when I applied, they had my SAT scores filed under a different name from the rest of my application.

so, just take care to make bold notes in yellow paper with arrows saying that this is so.

If you have schools that maintain their own live applications, it's easy to keep track of your app online to see whether your scores came in or not.

Lala poor the people doing their prelims today... Let's erm... Wish SM Lee a belated birthday!

arhh prelims soon to be over!! screwed up though

it's slightly infuriating. I've been checking out the collegeboard website and trying to email them and there's no answer!

so far, the only option of rushing is to wait for your results to come and THEN send the request to collegeboard to rush your report which sounds rubbish to me and potentially just as time wasting (what's with the 2 working days to process your stuff).

Is there no way I can ask for the results to be rushed before I take the test?

i think it basically means that. if you think about it, pre-ordered score reports requested even before the test would be very quickly processed. it's probably as good as a rush.

For all two years I haved been doing quite well. And since I applied to UK first, I got to see before hands that my predicted grades were straight As. But my prelims were really really ugly for some reason. On average there is a drop of 20 percentile. Can someone tell me if it is a big problem? does anyone of you get into decent school with lousy predicted grades?

Would your predicted grades change because of your prelim grades? I don't think they would. That said, Ivies and similar would like to see straight-A predicted grades, but won't really care if you have one (or maybe even two) Bs in your actual A-level results.

I checked with my teacher and i dont think my predicted grades will change because of prelims. He said normally they only adjust them upwards not downwards. So do you mean prelims are not so crucial? Do they put a higher weightage on predicted grades? I dont even have to get into an Ivy. something along the top 20-30 will be okay for me.

You can withhold your prelim grades (and for that matter, your Block Test, etc grades) from the universities and only send your Sec 4 O-level (or equivalent) and predicted scores. That's what I did, as my Block Test/Promo/Prelim grades were quite horrific =p.

but would withholding that make them suspicious? all other students will be submitting... anyway mind if i ask where did you get into? did any school ask you for you prelim results?
