I always use those cheapo free pencils from A*Star or whatever and never had any problems. I think they recommend 2B so it won’t smudge easily but will be dark enough.

lol i asked because the equivalent to a #2 given online is HB and that’s much too light for OMR sheets imo.

thanks for the help :D

can i get my private school tutor to write a letter of recommendation ?? my friend says that would greatly help my chances. is that even allowed in the first place, since its a private sch and all. its registered with MOE, if that helps…

I think so, so ling as your tutor is a recent teacher, I think is allowed.
However, you might want to check if the school requires a letter of recommendation; some large state schools like Purdue, may discourage you from sending one as it may delay the time they need to process your admission.

i’m not really sure if i have a choice here as my friend is saying people apply with grades similar to mine, but with more subjects ie 7 ?

what do you mean by recent teacher ?? he teaches at that school and takes tution, didn’t go through NIE or any of that…

From your descriptions, he’ll do okay.
If you feel you really need to, send it then. Anyways, which schools have you applied to?

i’m planning to apply to ISU/ASU/purdue. not sure where else i can apply with my grades that still has an open deadline. i plan to get all the forms and stuff done by this week or latest next. its a nightmare, tbh.

I’m also applying using O levels so I’m a bit curious so don’t mind me.
Any plans if you’re rejected? And yeah, I can understand applied to 4 colleges within a week.

i havent really thought about that =/

what’re your grades ? and where did you apply ??

3 A1s, 1 A2 and 4 B3s.
I’ve applied to Marquette, University of Oregon, Michigan State, University of San Francisco and Washington State University.

For me, I intended to reapply for the Spring semester if they rejected me and go to JC/poly in the meantime.

dammnn, those are pretty good. now i have even more doubts as to places i can apply that will actually accept my grades >.<

I think you have a good chance at ISU. I remembered like 2 years ago, their website stated that if you score over 1350 (CR + M) for your SAT, they’ll consider you for admissions.

But I think you might want to consider some private schools if you can because most public schools have to have a certain quota of students from their own states, you’d stand a higher chance at a private school for admissions.

mm i’ll look into it. funny thing is alot of schools don’t ask for SATs for international students. but its still advisable to send the scores over right ??

i’m also abit confused about cc, how does it work ?? 2 years and i transfer to a U and do 3 years there ?? or can i transfer after 1 year and still do only 3 years there ?? got conflicting reports from a couple of people…

I think it’s still advisable to send the scores coz then, they can compare you to the students in the US.

If they allow you to transfer all your credits, it’s 1 year, then 3. OR it’s 2 years and 2 years. If you’re going to do two years, you’ll earn an associates degree, then you apply to transfer to a 4 year uni.

In looking for a CC, try to look for one which has an ?agreement with the uni you want to apply to. An example would be UCLA and it’s TAP program.

A tip, most schools that have programs with CCs are usually public schools.

alright just finished giving collegeboard a couple of schools to send my scores to.

anw, i downloaded and looked through a couple of application forms. what do i put under secondary schools ?? i’ve more or less studied on my own for the past couple of years, with the last year+ in a private school and i’m even sure if that qualifies as a secondary school. plus they have all this stuff like minimum of 3 years doing science practicals etc. my O level cert should cover that right ?? i can’t just leave it blank, don’t think the admissions department would like that…

bump

10char

and also, how am i supposed to send my results ?? i called MOE and they said i should go down to their office and request a statement of results for each school that i wanna send an application to ? is this the case ?? i thought i’d just have to go to a notary public and get a certified true copy of my O level cert ?? now the date’s another issue since they said the cert would arrive anytime between feb and march and i wanna send my applications asap
