Single Dorm Housing Chances

Was assigned the number 3241 for the order of selection for Fall 2019. What are my chances at securing a single room private bath dorm at any of the residence halls?

Honestly, very very slim

Oof, I was foolish for signing up so quickly… My ability to get that room will be a major deciding factor between FSU and UCF since I can’t cancel the contract and live off campus

@greenplant UCF definitely has more single rooms/private bath options but most are single rooms/shared bath. My son also considered the UCF housing situation but ultimately chose FSU over UCF. Although he will likely have to room with someone for a year, he feels FSU will be a better fit for his four year experience, alumni connections, job placement rate and strong program in his major (Finance and Investment). Weigh your major at each school and the ultimate advantages beyond your first year room. Good luck to you!

@FLBeachBaby what does your son particularly like about FSU’s Finance/ Investment program? How does it compare to UF’s program?

@nelliewhoah Well, this thread is comparing dorms and housing at UCF and FSU (not UF) but UF has an outstanding Business School. It is a matter of personal choice but both schools are great. He is still waiting on a few admission decisions, but FSU Business simply was a place he felt he can succeed.

@FLBeachBaby thank you. Didn’t mean to veer off. There are similar decisions ahead between these 3 schools and others in April. Back on topic, UCF has really nice facilities and more modern dorms overall.

@NellieWhoah I totally understand! Many good schools with good programs. The decision process is difficult when you or your child have so many great choices. While I agree that UCF has more single room options (which was the OP’s original question), FSU has four completely new dorm buildings (two opened just last year) and most other dorms have been totally renovated. UCF is much newer as a school, and appears new. Kind of Downtown Disney-esque.
