Singles vs. Doubles

Willywonka-- if you have a preference I would definitely send it in because I heard from students while we were on campus that if you're an honor scholar they tend to be pretty accomodating.

~*~

willywonka, so then you don't think that the honors scholarship you got covers a single? You were the one who pointed out the gap between the award and the cost of tuition....

Oh, I didn't mean save money for me. I meant save money for anyone, I suppose. I guess I wouldn't mind a single. Or a double. Hmm.

I guess for some reason I got the impression that the less I used, the more I had for expenses, but I'm not sure if that's the case at all.

Oh, and I'm sure they'll probably try to honor the requests you send in. I just wanted to say what the sheet officially says, i.e. there's no box for "this is who I want my roommate to be." You might be better off coordinating with your friend to put the same information on the roommate question sheet and not mention that you're trying to get in with each other. I guess that's not fool-proof. I don't have anyone that I'm looking to room with especially, and I don't really care if I'm in G-L or BDG, I figure it will all work out some way.

I have to agree with you willywonka, that's a great world view.

For the space after the int'l student box, what do we put? Country?

Hahahah that blank makes so much more sense now. I put "Sure."

Maybe I'll go back and list a few.

Hey, when were the forms sent out? I didn't get mine yet...

They were sent out this week, you should get them soon.

If you don't get them by the end of the week, call the school.

I sent an e-mail to admissions about whether the Scholar Grant would cover a single room or a double and this is the answer I got from Kelly (who is wonderful):

"You are welcome to request a single room. The grant is for an average
room cost, so there might be a slightly higher cost for the single, but
it should not be overly prohibitive."

I'm trying to figure out exactly what this means, it would be easier if the costs on the little card weren't ranges. I'm hoping that the "slightly higher cost" would be slight enough that the $750 I'm getting for being a NMF would be enough to cover it, but I don't know.....although it is probably close enough that the difference I would be able to pay off with the money I earn working so I'm going for the single (although I said that if there is an int'l student from Russia, I'd room with them to make it easier for them to adjust to American life).
