What's your opinion of Sixth College?
I've heard good and bad things about it, and I got accepted to it today.

You will probably hear a lot of terrible rumors about Sixth College, whether it be online or from your peers who also got accepted into UCSD but into different colleges. I’m a freshman right now at Sixth College, and at around this time last year I heard a lot of bad rumors about how bad Sixth College was. But believe me, it is not as bad as they say it is.

I’ll start by stating the “bad” things people have to say about Sixth:
- Residence halls look like cabins that you see at summer camp, hence the nickname “Camp Snoopy”.
- Foodworx has no place to eat inside, people think it tastes like ****, and it is pretty far away from the res halls.
- It is far away from classes and other colleges, hence it is isolated.

In response to those, although the res halls might not look that nice on the outside, the inside is very similar to every other college. And honestly, you really just get used to the cabin look, and learn to embrace it. Although Foodworx is somewhat far from the res halls, the food there is actually REALLY good. There isn’t that much variety, but the food that they DO have, it is really good. Their personal pizzas, wraps, sandwiches, etc. are really really good. There are places to eat outside, and it doesn’t even rain that much in SD so it really isn’t a problem that there is no place to eat inside. As for the distance… at least you get exercise. And Sixth isn’t THAT far away from classes. The majority of my classes this year have been at Center, Price, and Warren Lecture Hall, all of which are relatively close to Sixth compared to the other colleges. Sure, York, Solis, Peterson, etc. are pretty far but really WLH and Center are pretty far from ERC too. And you are the closest to Price Center, which is the center of campus.

Now, some good things about Sixth:
- Really close to the bus stops for the buses that take you off campus. Almost every bus that stops on campus stops at the bus stop in Sixth. That means easy access to the beach, mall, etc.
- GE’s are not that bad. Compared to ERC and Revelle, it’s a piece of cake.
- The way the res halls are set up make it very easy to make friends.

Hm, now you have me worried about it.

My daughter was admitted to Sixth today. I don’t know which UCSD college she marked as first choice, but from what you say, I doubt it was Sixth.

Does each UCSD college make individual admission decisions? If one doesn’t like Sixth, is there any recourse?

The way the res halls are set up make it very easy to make friends."

how so?

Wildhorses, I found this pretty good article on the different UCSD colleges here:
[The Six Colleges of UCSD – A Ranking Guide for Applicants | The Rebertian Times](<a href=“Blog — chrisrebert.com”>Blog — chrisrebert.com)

^I guess the article isn’t terrible, but some of the pros are hardly pros and some of the cons don’t make sense as cons.
