Our son was also accepted today as conditional admit self report! We are so excited for him, as this is his first choice school and we’ve been waiting for what feels like forever, lol!

Accepted!!! for EE
Threshold scores for fall 2021 frosh admission are now posted here:
The point values are based on the calculation described here:
CS was the most competitive major, with a 3400 threshold score. This is equivalent to a 4.25 recalculated HS GPA, or a slightly lower GPA with some bonus points for local area, fee waiver eligibility, military status, or first generation to college.
Animation required a 3200 threshold score, equivalent to a 4.00 recalculated HS GPA, or a slightly lower GPA with some bonus points.
However, many majors required a 2000 threshold score, equivalent to a 2.50 recalculated HS GPA, the minimum for CSU eligibility for California residents. Many others had intermediate threshold scores.
Note: the higher threshold scores for majors marked with a * reflect the added 400 * (math HS GPA) for those majors only.
Oof, I applied for CS with a 4.07 GPA but I don’t live in the local area or anything. Wish they would just give me my rejection already instead of leaving us hanging with “Decision Pending” :/.
wow. i’m 80 points short. i used to live in the local admissions area too but i had to move for my senior year and didn’t have a choice
i really wish i would have seen that sooner and applied with a different major
They do not post the admission thresholds until after the decisions are made for each incoming class. For this year, they calculated the thresholds with different criteria since test scores were not considered, so no way to know in advance the threshold for any of the majors. The thresholds have always fluctuated from year to year so even knowing last years CS threshold, would not guarantee admission.
I will add the CS is always the most competitive at SJSU.
Do you know how likely it is to be admitted into your alternate major? My alt major was Digital Media Arts. Just wondering since to my knowledge SJSU doesn’t have a waitlist, I just want to see what my options may look like now since I didn’t meet the threshold for CS.
i think i saw something like as long as there is extra room in that major then you could be admitted
@capspeggy: Here is the information about alternate majors so check where you stand based on the admission threshold of 2000 for Arts- Digital Media.
“ We will consider the alternate major for those applicants who did not meet the impaction threshold to their first choice major. We will only admit to alternate majors if there is additional capacity for new student enrollment in that major. For Fall 2021, the evaluation process to determine which majors have the capacity to admit applicants to alternate majors will continue through the beginning of March.”
Ah okay. Thanks for the info! Nice to know that I’ll probably be waiting until March for a decision.
Just got accepted!!
That’s fantastic!
