SDSU vs SJSU vs Cal Poly Pomona?

I've just been wondering.. which school do you guys think is best for mechanical engineering? Probably Cal Poly Pomona, SJSU, then SDSU. But I also just want to know what you guys think of each school.. This is a pretty tough decision and i was just wondering if someone can give me some pros/cons about each of them, thanks.

All 3 are good but, will offer a very different experience to the student. Take a quick tour of each to help you decide.

ive toured all 3. and i have friends at all 3. i just want others opinions. @ncalrent

You may also want to consider where you want to live/work when you graduate.

guys, i have my own opinions right now about everything. I know what to consider and I’m fully aware of everything. All i am asking is for your 2 cents on the schools, areas, etc. @arc918 @ncalrent

Go to San Diego. Why not? Unless you are from that area and want something different.

All the schools will give a very good education. Have you visited all the schools yet, since each will have a different feel? My younger son chose SDSU for CS over Cal Poly Pomona and SJSU for many reasons, including the location and how sociable the campus felt. He also took a tour of the CS facilities and like what he saw. You can contact the Engineering department at each campus for a more in depth tour to help you with your decision. His roommate is an ME major and chose SDSU over SJSU. Best of luck.

I’m a freshman at Cal Poly Pomona and although I’m not an engineering major, I do know a LOT of engineering majors and can tell that they love it. CPP has a really good engineering reputation and I’d say about 1 out of every 3 people I meet are some type of engineering major haha The school gets crap for being a “commuter” school which it is, but if you live on campus, it’s hardly noticable. The freshmen dorms are incredibly sociable and there’s really a bit of everyone here… The total partyers, the shut-ins, the outgoing etc. If parties or social events are your thing, while there might not be a whole lot, you can definitely find them off campus if you meet the right people. It’s not even my scene, but I went to 3 off campus in my first month haha While there may not be too much to do around Pomona unless you drive, trust me when I say that you’ll find things to do on campus. The only time you really notice the “commuter” aspect of the school is on the weekends when the campus is dead but I’m sure that’s at most CSU’s tbh. There’s actually a ton of events on campus during the day throughout the year and a ton of clubs. Bottom line is, CPP’s one of those schools where you get what you put into it. If you’re not making an effort to get involved in anything, it’ll feel like a crappy school. I’ll admit CPP was not my first choice and I was really worried that it was going to be lame, but now I wouldn’t trade or transfer it for the world. Good luck wherever you end up!

hey thanks for the long response @caliX1 !

Hey luke, so what school did you choose to go to? And are you happy with your choice?
I’m contemplating CPP, SJSU, and UCR for mechanical engineering.
