Skipping math1a-b

Hi guys. I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice to skipping math 1 series and taking 53/54 straight up. I'm currently on the 16 series path but I recently started thinking about econ grad school as a possibility. I'm a sophomore so I'm obviously very late on math requirements so I want to save as much time as possible. Math and econ advisers told me that they don't really care that I didn't take 1 series. But, I'm wondering if the material in math 53/54 will be totally alien to me without the 1 series. I was really strong in math in high school and I have A pluses in both math 16 classes but the only problem was that I never taken calc bc in high school (didn't offer it). So, without calc bc preparation and only taken math 16b, would it be wise at all to jump into math 53/54. Or should I lag behind a semester by taking math 1b for 2 units only? (><).

you should be fine taking 53/54 without the 1 series. The extra material that you may need can be learned on your own. If you’re trying to goto econ grad school you should try to take as many math courses as you can (especially Math 104). Take a look at this list:

If you’ve taken the 16 series, you are prepared. In fact, you are probably more prepared than most.

Thank you guys. I have looked at that list before and I never knew econ grad school needed so much math so I really want to get started as fast as possible. It’s a relief to know that I don’t have to retake the 1-series.
