Sleeping bag on packing list?!

I'm an academic award finalist, and I received my packing list for the finalist weekend a few days ago. Is anyone else very surprised to see sleeping bag on the list? Do they really mean a sleeping bag, as in camping? I guess I am mostly confused because sleeping bag is not bulleted, while all the following items are. Someone, please help.

maybe they mean the below things are put in a "bag"
eh who cares. i'm pretty sure they will give us some sort of dorm.

That could be. I would like to now for sure though, a sleeping bag takes up alot of room in a suitcase, but I would hate to get there and then need one.

I sent an email asking about.

I host prospective students overnight at another one of the Claremonts (Scripps). Usually the students are asked to bring sleeping bags because there are not extra beds to sleep on - you sleep on your host or hostess's floor. Thus, a sleeping bad will be essential unless CMC is planning on putting you up in a hotel or the like for the weekend (Scripps does that for its Scholar's Weekend...)

They sent a reply saying that a sleeping bag is not necessary because we will be provided inflatable mattresses, but that many students prefer to have one.
