I’m currently a student in CAS, and I’m thinking about switching to SMG. I’m not completely sure if business is what I’m interested in yet, but my advisor told me to go ahead and take SM 299 next semester. Can anyone who’s taken SM 299 tell me anything about the class?

Try to PMing RYanbis or search for his posts on this BU board. He just completed SMG and is working at a top accounting firm.

I took SM299 last year in the fall. I can tell you all you'd like about it. Let me know exactly what you would like to know. For now, I'll let you know the basics. It is a very difficult class that cannot be passed without doing ALOT of work. It is a 9 hr a week class so it takes up alot of time. The main components are really the team presentations and the exams. Three presentations are spread out over the semester that are incresingly more detailed and strictly graded. You present it and then are grilled with questions from all sides until the professor is satisfied. The exams are difficult but an A is not impossible. I managed an A minus on the final after many long nights of preparation. They will introduce you to every aspect of business very quickly so you don't really get to go too deep in detail in any one thing. Accounting is difficult if you have no background in it. If you want to know anything specific, let me know. I'll try and answer back really quickly.

You need to post this on BUnite.
