Thanks people!

PS: Go Big Aristotle! The sun will rise in Phoenix.

G.P.A. and SAT are good for some of the colleges, slightly low for others.

Middle East? School for the gifted poor kids (full ride)? First person in family to go to college (very good colleges)? You used the word Uber? Very interesting. Nice EC’s. You have some impressive advantages here.

I think you can into most of your colleges.

thanks man. appreciate the evaluation. do you think the rank would hurt? im deff not making top %10, maybe not even %20.

also, how much of a leeway would I get with the SAT cr and w scores since I am international and English is my second language?

heh, your first sentence made me laugh, so i guess i should put in my $0.02 although i honestly don’t know cra.p about how admission decisions are gonna turn out especially for international students.

anyhoo. you seem like a very interesting person, strong ECs, test scores are pretty good. i don’t know about your SAT CR+W question, but i’m guessing that adcoms might do a comparison between you and other applicants from your area? in any case, yes it’s likely that those scores won’t hurt you much because they should understand that English is only your second language.. and scores don’t mean everything anyway (your essays should show that you can obviously communicate pretty dang well in English). rank MAY hurt a bit, but i’m not very sure, and dude your school sounds competitive enough (gifted kids? your IB predicted score?) so.. don’t worry too much about that, i guess?

you seem to have a decent shot at all the schools, i mean, as far as Harvard goes, it’s as much of a shot in the dark for you as it is for everyone. probably the same thing for the rest of the ivies and UChicago. that said, i do believe you stand a pretty good chance at the LACs, even at williams and amherst. i’m inclined to think you’ll be accepted at Conn, since they’re really looking to increase student diversity, but make sure that you’ve written a convincing “Why Conn” essay.. as you should have also done for the other LACs.

the full ride issue makes things more iffy, but i believe all the schools you’re applying to are capable of meeting the full demonstrated need even for international students, so, if they like you and decide to admit you, they’ll try their best to provide an aid package that’d enable you to attend. are you applying for fall '08? good luck! and remember, i’m just another senior so you should take my words with a grain of salt. expect the worst, but hope for the best.

hmm wow this was long. sorry, i tend to get really wordy sometimes.

thanks man. nice length with that username of yours ;)

I dont believe the rank properly demonstrates where I should have been in (my school picks an array of schools for each kid individually, and we have to choose between them, since they pay for all our college application expenses, and I was the only one allowed to apply to Harvard for example.) I guess I get too caught up in the process of learning to worry much about outperforming other guys as far as the hws and tests go, but unfortunately theres no way of skillfully explaining that to the adcoms.

My Conn essay was about my friend from school who went to ConnColl after my freshman year, and how she would try to teach me how to properly pronounce “Connecticut”, since I knew very very little English, and how over the years the absurd challenge made a place in my mind that felt uniquely connected when the application time came along, and how I gradually learned more about it and loved.

It may not be the best, but I hope I made a fairly strong argument through the use of a creative approach.

again thanks for the evaluation

I hope you haven’t said that in your application as it is a very inefficient excuse for having a lackluster rank in high school.

of course not haha
as i said, theres no way one can make that into a legit excuse

so can anyone else quickly llok at my stats and comment?

thanks people. I appreciate the help
