I took the Math IIC test in December and got a 790. But everyone I have talked to with experience has told me that I must retake it for the 800. I signed up for the June IIC test but was planning on not taking it until 3 days ago when my brother approached me and told me that my decision not to retake the test was the dumbest thing he's ever heard me say. So i studied and crammed the past 3 days and I took the test again today.

Smart choice? or not??

Well, I don't believe that it is absolutely imperative to retake for 10 more points. However, everyone has their own opinions.

that was quite dumb to retake an entire test for 10 points, it just looks weird. I got 680 on iic, im thinking of retaking, but i already have 2 scores higher so i prob wont

what kind of people do you talk to? but if you're ABSOLUTELY certain that you can nail that 800 then it was probably a good choice.

but yea, although its only a difference of 10 points, an increase from 790 to 800 is probably worth much more than an increase from 780 to 790.

by june 20th you should have your answer though. its just over a fortnight later. just requires some patience...:D

It doesn't particularly matter if you retake it and get an 800, unless you're borderline on your admission and the little boost brings you over the hump.

Its dumb if you actually studied all again for it.

Its not dumb if you didn't have to study for it and you also had to take another SAT II on that day anyway

Lets face it, the IIC is not that hard, and with the curve they have, you should aim for 800

Hey all, sorry about hijacking this thread, but I would like to know people's opinion about whether or not one should retake with a current score of 750 - 770?

yomoma2424 -- you can't criticize him for wanting a little more. It's his own right. Everyone has different standards-- but if i were to offer my own opinion, just listen to others who have 790 as well. i doubt many would retake.
