Disregard Post. I was able to finally reach someone. Thank you.

I applied in the fall, but don’t know much about when we are supposed to hear back other than “early February”. To any past applicants, please share your experiences. When did you hear you were a finalist? When did you get a decision? What was your job like?

Anyone else apply this past cycle?

I guess I’m the only one…

I applied as well, and am sitting anxiously waiting to hear I got it (positive thinking). Hopefully “early February” meant this week, although I’d bet not till the end of next week (I’m assuming this based on the due date for the sf-87 being the 28th).

out of curiosity- am i the only female applying to this thing?

I am also applying for the SMART scholarship this year. Will we be notified via email as to whether or not we are finalists or just receive the SF-87 in the mail?

Also, I have 2 years until I graduate so I will be doing the intern during the summer thing if I receive the scholarship. Does that start this summer (2010)?

Thanks and good luck everyone!

Hi
I think this waiting period is the hardest part!! However, I think we should hear by the end of this week.

I dont know if it is a well known thing, but the Washington DC areas government employees have off because of the large snow storm that hit. So we might end up waiting even longer to find out.

I heard the same thing that all government offices were off yesterday and today due to snow.

Hey, I applied last year and was named as a semi-finalist (later an alternate). We got an email on February 24 telling us that we were semifinalists, to possibly expect a phone call, and get our ducks in a row for the SF-86. I wouldn’t get too worried until about the end of February if you havent heard from them. Good luck!

Hi
Did you become a finalist and did you accept the award??

No, i applied again this year. I did have a friend of mine win and accept the award.

If your selected this year as a SMART scholar, you won’t start your internship this year. You will be required to attend a 3 day orientation in the summer(2010), and your internship will start next year.

This has been my experience thus far, the SMART Program office has been changing dramatically for the last year so it may be different now.

Good luck!

has anyone heard anything on whether or not they made it as a finalist yet?
also if you are not named a finalist will they tell you?

Any response out there to Dozer99 – notices of acceptance, rejection or deferral as an alternate?

I don’t think anyone has heard anything yet regarding who is a finalist.

I applied to this year’s SMART scholarship as well, and have not heard back either. Please post when you hear something! I’m getting anxious :p

tick… tock… tick… tock… tick … tock

What’d everyone pick for their preferences?
- Pax River NAVAIR
- Arnold Air Force Base (TN)
- Cherry Point NAVAIR

There is no way you could be the only female. With this many applicants that’s practically impossible. Aside from that I am a female and I have applied.

It’s now “mid-february”- has anyone heard anything yet? I guess not. I hadn’t heard anything about hearing in “early february” I always heard late feb. I try not to think about the fact that I am dying to know!

Also, it’s a 6 day orientation this summer, not 3. Kind of annoying because it’s right in the middle of any other summer program that you may have been accepted to… which could limit what you can do this summer.

Just waiting and hoping for that email!!

I just got an email telling me I’m a semi finalist. There were 3300 applicants and 1300 people are semi-finalists. 300 get the award
