Smith class of 2014

ughh…hoping for a quick decision!

Has any of the RD applicants gotten their stride or likely letters yet for the class of 2014?

Smith doesn’t do likely letters, unfortunately. I’ve heard of STRIDEs getting their STRIDE letters a few days ahead of their acceptance/financial aid letters, but not a few weeks ahead.

I was just looking at the posts from a year ago at when my daughter received her STRIDE letter. She received her letter 3/15 which was postmarked 3/13; we live in Massachusetts. I’m a little fuzzy how much longer she actually waited to receive her acceptance/financial aid letter, but I believe it came over a week later. Not too much longer, everyone–hang in there!

I know I shouldn’t be expecting a STRIDE at all, especially not this early, and I’m trying not to, but every day when I check the mail it’s the first thing I look for…

But it’s alright. We’re all going to make it.

I think I would fall over if I found a STRIDE letter in my mailbox…i’m not even looking for it yet…

Not expecting a STRIDE, but had a dream that I got one haha.

I would love a STRIDE, as well…I’m hoping the email I got about my essay means something, but who knows… (I have to say, though, I have restrained myself from checking the mailbox  )

Teenage_cliche, you are absolutely right–you are ALL going to make it. You will all survive this process and go to a terrific college that will be a wonderful fit for you because I know you will take advantages of the opportunities given you. You all are intelligent, resilient and resourceful young women and you be just fine.

I frantically check my mailbox every day… email included, which is quite pathetic. The same thing happened when AP scores were getting mailed last July. Sundays quickly become the worst day of the week because of the lack of mail! Today was especially disappointing; there was only a cruise brochure and some bills. Wow great.

I’m hoping that this ends soon, the anticipation is killing me! =)

Nightpwnsj00, I remember my daughter deliberately going out to the mailbox every day during this part of the process. SHE wanted to be the one to get the mail. Today is only March 11, so it’s still quite early to be receiving anything. Try to mellow as much as you can.

Yeah, better to check early than to be caught unawares. I think we’re entering the STRIDE letter zone for sure now.

NP, things will be worse for applicants if the postal service drops Saturday mail delivery, as has been recently proposed.

TC, when you’re writing your papers at Smith, remember that it’s “all right,” not “alright.” That’s up there with “noone” among common spelling errors. (Whereas it can be either “all ready” or “already” depending on what you mean. As in, “Enough, already.” Never to be confused with Helen Reddy.)

TheDad: That would be terrible! At least nothing like that will happen within the next few weeks, though. =)

A large majority of my school has applied to only rolling-admissions schools, so I am one of the few still waiting for decisions. Quite a bit frustrating, but the wait is almost over.

^ I’m the same way, nightpwns! It really sucks because EVERYONE asks if I know where I’m going next year. -_-
