Just skimming the dorm thread, I noticed someone mention about requesting a smoking or nonsmoking roommate.

The dorms are not all non smoking?

Is the state of Missouri not all non smoking, ie, in restaurants, public places?

Not making a judgment, just have found that many states are going non smoking.

I’m almost positive that the dorms are all non smoking considering that we weren’t even supposed to have inscence or candles in them. Also, Columbia is now a non smoking city in public places I think. The whole state isn’t like that though, as you can still smoke in St. Louis

They’re all nonsmoking—there’s even an on campus rule where smokers must smoke outdoors 40 ft from all entrances or something…

I think they just ask the question because they don’t want to stick a non smoker in a room with someone who smells of cigarettes and gets that smell all over them as well…

The smokers would go just outside the building to smoke. They also went out on the floor balconies (my first dorm had this, second one didn’t) to smoke, although I’m not sure if they were supposed to.

I didn’t see anyone smoking cigarettes inside the dorms anywhere but the balcony (which is outside in a way). I would assume they’re probably banned.
