SMU vs. Charleston vs. Elon vs. Boulder

I know the 1st three are smaller.

How would you compare all 4 in terms of education, town, social life, music scene, etc.

Get back to me, rank them if you please!

Well… I don’t know much about the middle two, but I do know a little about Boulder(I applied and was accepted to the honors program there) and SMU.

SMU- expensive, conservative, nice campus, middle of a big city (Dallas)
Boulder- expensive, liberal, beautiful campus/area, near a big city (Denver)

Academically, I’d say that SMU is a little better, but only a little. And it really depends on what you want to major in. But politically speaking, I don’t think Boulder and SMU could be any more different haha.

yeah i realize.
you see my sister went to SMU so I’ve seen what it’s like/her crew of friends, and I have lots of fun there/with them.
maybe this is because it is the only college i’ve really “seen” but there is definitely a connection.

the Boulder idea comes from the fact that I’m a pretty liberal person, and would like to make a change for college (thus Colorado from FL), cool town, etc.

Charleston almost seems like the perfect school, great city, has that southern vibe (polos, vineyard vines, etc.) but is more liberal than most.

and Elon seems like the ultimate “college” experience, mountains and beach, not too far, lots of ladies and seems like a fun well rounded time.

Elon is definitely the ultimate “college” experience, great campus atmosphere, best academics in my opinion out of all of the schools, students love it there. However, if you cannot afford Elon, C or Charleston would be my 2nd choice.

is there anything to do really in the town of Elon?

From The Princeton Review

The town of Elon is “a small town that has everything you need: a movie theater, bowling alley, and every food chain, as well as plenty of restaurants and pizza places.” If you have no car, though, it can “feel like it’s in the middle of nowhere.” Access to an automobile opens many options, allowing students to “hit the highway and head to Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill,” all reasonably lively places. Even those who are campus bound still have plenty of options. One student explains, “Since Elon is not really a commuter school and there is not a great deal to do in the town itself, getting involved in organizations is really important. Many people commit themselves to a number of the over 150 campus organizations.” Undergrads also enjoy a “gorgeous” meticulously maintained campus." Elon’s groundskeeping staff has to be among the best in the nation," offers one student. “If you go outside at 6:30 AM, there is an army dedicated to lawn care!” Community is strong at this school, with Greek life being a very big thing at Elon. Many of us are or have been in a sorority or fraternity." Another large part of Elon is “Elon Volunteers, the collection of Elon’s service projects, organizations, and events.” Intercollegiate athletics, in contrast, are neglected since “Everyone knows our teams are most likely going to get beaten,” although a winning men’s basketball season has helped disprove that. Socially speaking, Elon has a hopping party scene. but though “most people party on the weekends, the library is packed on Sunday afternoons.”
