snow days

This is pretty random and has really nothing to do with admissions, but I live in Nebraska and we just got like a foot of snow dumped on us so we had a snow day. Do you guys get days off for lots of snowfall?

VERY rarely. this year we had the first snow day in i believe 4 years. the onyl reason to cancel school for weather is if teachers cannot get in. most of the time roads are cleared up fast enough, and the t-zo is plowed in time to have school go on. with the earlier start time last semester, we did get several delays too

There have been 5 snow days in the last 20 years. That should clear up your question. ;)

I got that many snow days in a month at my school. ROFL

Well, Colorado is known for freakishly schizophrenic weather...just wait until basic...lightning warnings come out of nowhere.

I had a snow day this week and a delay, too! Those are the best! I can't wait for high school to be over...

And didn't you guys turn your ironing boards into sleds or something like that when you had a snow day this year?

Yep...thought I wouldn't necessarily advise that next year...some people got hurt and that doesn't go over well with the faculty/staff. :P

That ironing board thing reminds me of something that we did at my high school last year when it snowed a lot...in my furniture construction class we took apart an old classroom table and then our teacher let us go out behind our school and sled down the huge hill with it...it was amazing. But I'm pretty sure our teacher would've lost his job if the admin. had found out. =)

for sleds, my mom bought these mat sleds after christmas for very cheap. they packed up tightly enough to fit in my suitcase, and they work much better for sledding than boards or trashbags

My room mate's mom sent us 3 mat sleds in the mail. lol.

Ya, Here in "sunny" San Diego, wow, I dont know what to say about all the "snow days" I've had. Theres so many, I've begun to lose track......I mean its really hard to count to 0. :) hehe. (but I'm sure the first freezing day I'm there its going to be horrible 4 my spoiled self) O well. :)

Naw, you'll be fine. I come from Houston with even hotter days than San Diego. The uniforms here are very warm, so it wasn't bad at all. Plus, it only takes the human body 3 weeks to acclimate to a new climate.

I want a snow day, but we don't get them in Vegas. How cold are the tents at night during 2nd BCT? I am usually fighting to stay cool in August, but somehow don't think that will be a problem this year.

Our summer was very mild IMO. It was warmish in the day (70-80 on average) but cold at night (40-50). So, it gets chilly in the tents, but the sleeping bags, despite their age, are very warm. You won't have any problems keeping warm, just don't let them get wet.
