Thought it was because you were “lazy and made bad choices” like you said in your previous topic? Regardless of your excuse, you got 2 Ds in 5 unit classes that sound like important pre-reqs. You screwed up big time, bro. You’re probably gonna have to retake those and apply again next year.

You should still go to your winter class and do the best you can in it to get your GPA back up. I’m not sure what your current GPA is right now but 2 5 unit Ds can’t be too good for your GPA even though I do recall yours being up there.

^ how much did you learn the first time around? PreCalc and Accounting are some of the hardest classes to finish in a shortened schedule. If the teachers offset the difficult by removing some of the material or making the tests easier / offering group tests for winter that could help.

You got 2 Ds, one in a pre-reqs so your TAG is gone. Like sm said, you’ll need to reapply next year if you still want to get in. Furthermore you starting in 2015 they’ll change the math req from stats + biz calc to 2 semesters of engineering based calculus. Basically at this point you just need to get straight As and keep your GPA high.

I’m taking them with really easy A teachers and I will be getting help from my tutor and I will be studying harder.

Bu as far as still trying to get in for Fall 2014, since my TAG is no longer in order, can I still get in? With like a 3.4 or 3.5 GPA? After I make up the classes.

^ What is your actual GPA? The total UC transferable one including your CC and CSU units?

The good thing for you is pre-calc isn’t required for business calc, if you pass accounting then you could still finish all the pre-reqs for the econ major.

I took an easy A managerial accounting teacher last summer. I got a B on the 1st test and a whole lot of people did even worse. I only ended up with an A in the class because she made 3 of the 4 tests group. So easy teacher by itself doesn’t mean much.

Okay you have a 3.17 GPA right now. So your chances of getting into UCSB are low.

You said you applied to your former CSU for admission? I’d tell you to just go there in case you get rejected.

The other option is apply next year. You’ll need to retake accounting and pre-calc with As. You won’t need to take business calc but will need to take regular (engineering) calc 1 and 2. They are a LOT harder than business calc.

UCs are really generous because they’ll remove your grade of F or D if you retake the course. So once you get those A’s your gpa will be 3.6+ and you’ll actually be pretty competitive for UCSB without tag.

Doesn’t it say you need to maintain a 2.0 GPA in the Fall? You got a 1.6x. So ya TAG is gone.
You’ll also be submitting your grades late so who knows how they will treat that.

Good-luck man. I passed calc 1 last semester and even I can’t handle both accounting and pre-calc in the winter.

First, why is it when everyone fails a class, there blanket answer is family problems. We all have families with problems and if you let that consume you right now, you will be doomed in the workforce. I say man up and admit you slacked off during the semester and you will work harder next time to get back on track.

Your tag will be rescinded and you will possibly be rejected. It sounds like you knew this was coming, so you signed for those classes in advance. All I can say is do the best you can and good luck.

For UCSB, your admitted as pre major status for that Major. If you don’t pass the required courses you will be declined access to the full major.

I just talked to my UCSB TAG counselor and my Accounting professor.

Turns out I was at a 69% and a 69.5% is needed to get a “C” in the class.

On top of that, I have 2 assignments that I turned in that I never got credit for, but the thing is I’m missing one of these assignments so I have to go fix that.

I’ll most likely come out with a C in the class.

Not only that, but my UCSB TAG counselor just emailed me back, she said I MUST get a “C” in the Accounting class in order for me to stay in the game.

That works out really well for you, if you get a C your tag will be kept. Plus you can drop accounting and only focusing on pre-calc which is much more doable in the winter.
