so do midterm exams grade matter, since they wont be seen for a bit?

im applying to average colleges like umass lowell and one good college (umass amherst)
my 1st semester grades are good.. but a couple of my midterm exams will be bad... will that matter?

and by bad i mean possibly fail on midterm.

bump...................

only if it affects the semester grade...

yeah, which depending on how much your exams are weighted in calculating a semester average, a failing grade will most likely keep you out of an A. Of course this all depends on how well you did in the class this semester.

The midterm grades at my school affect the semester grade, but don't appear separately. Even then, they have only a small effect.

how much are they weighted. do they count 13, 25, even 33% of your semester average. for instance my school has 3 marking periods per semester, and then a semester exam. each is weighted equally, so if i get a 90, then an 85, then a 93, then a 80 on the exam, my semester average is an 87
