So, how does the laundry system work?

Living in west campus. It seems like it’s going to be a pain, unless there’s some kind of automated system.

Not sure what you mean by automated system, but laundry really isn't that bad at all, especially in big dorms like West and Warren. You can even use your convenience points by swiping your card so you never need quarters. Just make sure to set a timer so you know when your stuff is done.

What I meant is that it seems like it would be a pain to have to put your clothes in the washing machine, come back in an hour, put them in the dryer, and then come back again in an hour to fold your clothes and bring them back to your room.

um... is that any different from what you do now in your own house? unless your washer/dryer is in your room...even then...
no one is going to take your laundry down for you or put your laundry in the dryer for you.

well i'm sure there's a sitting area in the laundry room so you could always stay there while you're waiting and do homework or something. or you can do your laundry when you're going to eat so you can put it in the washer, go eat for an hour, come back and put it in the dryer and then just chill for a bit.
i don't really know i'm just brainstorming, lol.

there are normally seats down there so yes you can sit and read a book. but its pretty easy to take the elevator back to your room... do something for an hour and take the elevator back down...

That's kind of my point, though. In my own house, I can leave my clothes in either the washer or dryer for a few hours without having to worry about it, and it's not like I have to take an elevator down 12 stories and then walk to the adjacent building when I'm home either. It just seems strange.

Well, the etiquette is that you don't leave your stuff for hours because it's rude and it's okay for your stuff to be pulled out and put in a basket - or even on top of a washer - if it's been sitting there. Dryers are a bigger issue because you never know how long it will take to dry a load and people tend to leave their clothes because, heck, they're not wet now. I doubt this will be the biggest challenge you'll face at school or in life so chill.

yeah, you will **** people off extremely if you leave it there for a few hours, seeing as it is always a fight to do laundry.

i usually even dumped all the person's clothing out onto the table/top of machine if they left it in there too long LOL

i never even did laundry before coming to BU, so yeah. chillax, not a huge issue!

Is there a particular day the laundry room gets very crowded?

ehh..weekends are a little crowded during the day, but if you monitor them you won't have a problem. I tend to do my laundry very late at night while I study, when there's never anyone around. Weekday afternoons are also pretty empty.

Don't try doing laundry on Sunday afternoons. You will wait foreeever for a washer/dryer. Your best bet is weekday afternoons or weekend nights when everyone is out.

I'm thinking of doing my laundry Fridays after lunch
