I am an undergraudate freshman applicant, and I did not receive any emails asking me to submit additional information. However, I just checked myBerkeleyApp and it shows two forms I should complete(?) One on letter of rec and one on my socioeconomic background (I put low income on UC app). Can I fill these out although I haven't received an email? Can it be that the emails may come later? And what is the deadline for these forms? The website doesn't say and I haven't received an email so....

Fill it in immediately!!!

Some, like my daughter, never got an email but found the forms on myberkapp. They only show up if you are in augmented review status. They are waiting for your reply. Without the email you don’t know the deadline so don’t delay. My daughter found the requests, submitted them and is a happy golden bear right now.

Really? But I heard we are never supposed to do this unless we get an official email(?)

Grr, thanks, but can anyone agree or disagree with rider730?

mBA is more official than an official email. Do it =)

Also, check the email they have for you. It may be incorrect.

Confidentiality - it is true that you are not supposed to send unsolicited recommendations or additional information. However, you are confusing that statement, which applies to those that have no request, with the situation you are in.

The request is clearly there, and you are complying with a request for the supplemental information. Those who are not asked for supplemental information will see those forms or the link to submit a recommendation. Their mBa just asks them to wait patiently for a decision.

As iVinshe correctly says, MyBerkeleyApplication is THE official vehicle for communications with you. If you decide to attend Cal, that is where you will find out about all the requirements, forms to file and other actions asked of you.

The email is simply a way to alert you to check the official request on mBa.

Post stats please? Do you live in norcal?

Alright thanks rider again. I confirmed with others that I have to fill the forms out.

So… how much time do I have to fill these forms? I will get it done as early as possible, but I am still worried as to when I should fill these out by.

I’ll post my stats briefly, and I live in Socal.

-Low income ($30,000) - I think this is why I have to do the socioeconomic questionnaire
-Very unique experiences - I had some family responsibilities, such as filing tax returns and working alongside my dad to help him secure computer deals (he can’t speak English so I have to do most of the work that requires English). Been working for my dad since 9th grade (20hrs/wk)
-Have to commute 2 hours to school everyday, so had to give up some extracurricular activities like varsity tennis. I had some pretty bad socioeconomic experiences (talked about it in essays, but showed how I overcame them).

UC weighted GPA: 4.64
UC unweighted GPA: 3.84
UC capped GPA: 4.17
ELC status (4%)
SAT: 2060 (with 800 math)
SAT IIs: 780, 760, 760
ACT: 30 (with 35 math and 35 english)
Courseload: Very strong. 7 college classes and 10 APs by graduation. Enough credits to have at least junior status if I go to Berkeley. Passed all my AP tests so far with 5’s and 4’s
Essays: Probably the strongest part of my app. Both of my essays were “extraordinary” according to my counselors and teachers
Extracurriculars: Dedication to tutoring and community service (have been doing both since elementary). And also Prez of mu alpha theta. VP of korean club. Workshop leader for peer tutoring program.
Misc: First generation college student, korean
Major: Pre-biz

Are these questionnaires only sent to students who are already accepted and in consideration for scholarships and to borderline students?

These have nothing to do with scholarships. They are part of the admissions process - called augmented review. Cal readers assign scores to every application and only a sliver are flagged for these supplemental questionnaires, mainly to help decide between thumbs up and thumbs down.

You will receive email according to this questionnaires in the following days.

So questionnaire are only sent to borderline students? Can it be that I just got one because of my socioeconomic status? (I did get the socioeconomic questionnaire)

blue168_168, are the forms due ten days after I receive the email?

Yes, but the email didn’t specify exact due day. Good luck !!

confidentiality - where did you see the forms on myberkeleyapp? when i log in all mine says is that my app is in review and decisions will be released mar. 26. does that mean i don’t have any forms to fill out?

confidentiality-- would you be so kind as to share your personal statements with me?

gilmorelove4life: I logged on myBerkeleyApp in hopes of finding something like a Regents invitation, but found the forms instead. If I have never logged on, I would not have known about these forms. (Still haven’t received the email) This was like 3 days ago. If no forms show up, you probably don’t have to fill anything out.

Sorry waterholic, I am not letting just anyone I talked to online read my essays (no offense). I just don’t want to risk finding my essays posted online or something without my consent. I am sure you won’t do such a thing, but I just don’t want to risk it. Plus its very private and personal so I would be very uneasy to let someone who I don’t know to read them. Sorry!

it’s an understanding. (: thanks anyway
