So I Did Terrible on My SAT IIs

I didn't study or take their respective AP classes and this is what happened.

Biology E 590
Literature 720
Mathematics Level 2 610

I want to get into UC Davis, but they state that "* SAT Subject Tests are not required and UC Davis will consider submitted SAT Subject Test scores only if they benefit the applicant." Does this mean I'm not totally screwed? If it helps at all I have a 2040 on my actual SAT, but I'm planning to retake that in October. Stanford is a pipe dream at this point.
I'm think I'm going to retake this in November, but on a scale of 1-10, how screwed am I and should I be worrying!?

I'm freaking out!

Your Literature score is pretty impressive, considering the difficulty of that test.

I’ve always been pretty okay with Literature, but I don’t want to follow in its respective majors. How freaked out should I be!?

I think you should just self study and take it again. Don’t freak out. Those tests are pretty difficult, especially if you haven’t taken the corresponding AP course.
Lit score is impressive :)

Not freaked out at all. I’m not sure about UC Davis, but I believe you can simply not send scores you don’t wish to.

In fact, I believe your solution is fairly easy.

Great SAT Score: Check (and just fine for UC Davis. Check it, but I think you’re in the upper echelon of scorers for that top school)
Lit: 720 (great)
others subject tests (simply don’t send)
And now, all you need to do is prep a little more for a different subject and retake. So basically, you have the entire summer to study for JUST 1 subject test score. Nail it out of the park and your easily in!!!

In summary, send
SAT 1
Lit
– and take another subject test which you’ll prepare all summer to nail out of the park (740+)

Okay. Still, I feel pretty sick to my stomach looking at my Bio and Math II scores, especially seeing all the 800s around here. :(

Edit: Wait, so you can just NOT send in SAT Subject Test Scores!?

I feel sick too. Just don’t look at them. lol.
Worry about your own score, not their 800s.

You do not have to get an 800 to apply to the Ivies. and even more importantly, start detaching yourself from the idea that you MUST go to an ivy.

All you need to do is study this summer for 1 sat subject test; THAT’S IT! You already have 2 great scores (Sat, Lit), and simply don’t send the rest.
I don’t know what you’re worried about.

For your own health and wealth, be cool and relax. You’re absolutely fine.

I had no idea you could simply NOT send the SAT Subject Test Scores. I thought that you had to send them all in!?

[UCDavis: Freshman Admission Requirements](http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admission/freshmen/fr_adm_reqt.cfm)

Subject tests are not required – in other words, you don’t even have to send ANY of them in.

So what I said about studying this summer for ANOTHER subject test is actually void.

You could literally get in, right now, with your SAT score and presumably a decent school GPA. The literature subject test will just be an added bonus.

If you want to get into other schools, however, many DO require 2 subject tests. However, MANY of these schools allow score choice, where you can send only the ones you want (I believe, however, that they can see HOW MANY TIMES you’ve taken it, but I’m not entirely sure how that works so don’t quote me. Taking a test more than twice, whether its the SAT or a subject test looks foolish, but they can only see the one you send them.)

In either case, in order to get into other schools are receive more merit scholarships, I would suggest using your summer wisely. Maybe you think you can raise your SAT a hundred points or so by studying this summer. Maybe you think you can ace a subject test by studying all summer (very doable, seeing as it’s just material you need to learn and practice.)

Few schools require that you send all scores, though I can think of some Ivy league exceptions. In these case, you would be REQUIRED to send those scores: solution? Simply don’t apply to them, as they are few in number.

Again, you are fine  and good luck to you!

I had no idea about Score Choice, I feel so much better. Thank you man!!
