So I got a D in one class..what do I do?

I have tag to most of the schools but I received a D in my spanish 1B class. My gpa is still 3.0 and its not a pre-req class ( i passed spanish 1A with a B). Will my Tag be revoked? Does the units for this class count? Or do i have to make up those units?

Even though a D is substandard, it isn’t a fail and still counts and can be transferred unless is your major. I’d check with the college of your intentions. It’s shouldn’t hurt your chances I don’t think, granted everything else is completed and don’t drop below the min GPA stated in your TAG agreement.

anybody know how i can contact davis to ask?

You would have to repeat the course not only if is in your major but also if it is a prerequisite for your major. For example, if you are planning to be a Physics major and get a D in Calculus 1, you would have to repeat Calculus 1, even though it is a Math rather than a Physics course.

im an english major, and i dont think spanish 1B is a required course, i basically took it as an elective. Would i still have to repeat it?

Strong probability the transfering uc will make u do it for ur ba

Give up bro

simple answer: NO. your tag won’t be revoked for getting a D or F. As long as you maintained a 3.0 GPA, your tag is still valid especially when the course you got a D in is not pre-req. Even if it was pre-req or IGETC, you could retake it in spring. So don’t worry.

@Pianocat thanks for your immature and unnecessary answer, ■■■■■■ like you are a pimple on the face of the evolution of mankind.

@berkeleyphil Thanks for the answer, do you know if i can just take a different class to fulfill the units i got the D in? Because I heard uc’s don’t accept D’s as credit. And I really don’t like spanish…

You do not need to retake it if it was not for IGETC or pre-req. However, if you want to remove the D from your GPA, you should retake the same course and get a C or better.

To add to what Berkeleyphil said, if you want to replace the D with a higher grade not only do you have to repeat the class but you must do it at the same College where you received it.

I am not sure what level of proficiency you have to meet, but I do think that most colleges and universities require English majors to take at least one foreign language. You might want to check the requirements for English majors at the UCs you plan to transfer to and see if they require a certain number of credits in a foreign language so you can repeat the class at your CC and have the D replaced with a better grade.

So as of now this D has no units transfered to the uc right? Only until I get a C or higher will the units transfer? Im actually thinking of repeating this class now.

I think it will transfer since you did not get an F but it will not fulfill any prerequisites or requirements for your major if you indeed are required to obtain a certain number of credits in a foreign language to graduate with a degree in English.

oh so the five units that the class is worth still transfers? So for example Originally i thought I only needed 8 units during the spring to get my 60. But since I got a D in this class I would need 13. Or did do the 5 units already count in total units required to transfer?
