So I got straight A's in my hardest classes this quarter...

including AP Physics C, AP Calculus AB, AP Chem, AP Chem lab, AP Psychology, and Honors English.

BUT, I got a B+ in PAINTING and an A- in Spanish 3.

**** my life!!! How does this happen!

Try talking to your teacher about extra credit…

And you have 3 more quarters to raise your grade, don’t you?

It’s too late for extra credit. The quarter is done. Grades are finalized, and colleges will see these.

Colleges only see semester grades(or at least, only care about semester grades). So work your @** off in painting and Spanish 3 so it averages out to at least 93.00

I have the same dilemma. While I have a 99% in IB Math HL, I’ll likely end the quarter with an A- in Spanish 3.

You either don’t care about the classes very much because they’re not very stimulating/are incredibly boring (my situation) or you’re horrible at Spanish and painting pictures. Hahaha.

Its painting, I highly doubt any admission officer cares that much outside of one for an arts school. But for the A-, does +/- affect your GPA?

I suck up my forced electives(gym, art) too.

I hate how schools do it to you.

But the good thing is, sucking up DOES work in these classes.

I cheated in gym. Thank God my gym teacher liked me.

Calm down. OK, you have 1 B+. Just because you don’t have a 4.0 doesn’t mean your chances at top schools are over. Colleges will know the pressure is higher since your school goes by the quarter system. My school thankfully reports semester grades only. My current grades, which are unofficial, are:

AP Statistics: A- or A, depending on how I did on today’s test
French 3: A
AP Calculus BC: A- or A, depending on how I did on the previous test
AP Physics B: A
AP Microeconomics: A
AP English Lit & Comp: A-

My goal is to get at most 1 A- (as of now, it’s nearly impossible to get above an A- for anyone in the AP Lit classes at my school) and the rest A’s. But the different between A- and A doesn’t really matter for most schools. Only schools such as the CHYMPS will care. Since you have a B+, you have plenty of time to pull it back to an A for the next quarter.

Schools only care about +/- if your school uses +/- and counts it in GPA.

^And mine does. :(

From what I understand a lot of schools reweigh your GPA using just core classes. So I don’t think your painting class is going to matter…
