I applied with a 3.00 weighted GPA in high school with two F's on my transcript.

Colleges are clearly going to question whether they should risk taking me given that I haven't proven I'm capable of succeeding in high school...much less college.

Well, I'm currently in two college courses at my local university, Honors Philosophy and Calculus. I got the highest grade in my class on my midterm in honors philosophy and currently have a 98% in the class. In calculus I have a low A.

Would it be worth it to email all of the colleges I've applied to and give them an update on how I'm doing in my current college classes? My word on how well I'm doing is obviously unofficial, so will colleges even care?

No, colleges only consider what is in the application. I’m not sure if you’re a HS senior?? But if you are, then Senior grades aren’t taken into consideration-- that is, unless you get a below a C in which case your acceptance may be…well, taken back.

Many colleges require Mid-year Reports, which include 1st semester of senior year grades. Most colleges do not mind if you add supplemental information, as long as it can be useful for decisions. If you have been maintaining an upward grade trend, and want further show that you are doing it in the your last semester of HS, then I would say just go ahead and email or contact the colleges with the information. The worst thing they will is that it’s too late to give new information, and the best thing is that might give you a tip for admissions for some schools which you were borderline for!

Good luck and good job on those two classes.

Colleges do consider your senior year grades. They should see your current progress in your mid-year reports. You can send additional information if you think that it will improve your admission to the college. Just by reaching out to the colleges shows that you are interested and that you are trying. Colleges like that.

Again, I disagree with people who say NOT to do it. I actually just did what you want to do a few days ago…I called up each school and asked if I still can add new grades from the second semester. Each college that hadn’t already given me a decision said I can fax in the new information for consideration while my file was in review during committee.

They said that they will consider the new grades as supplemental information. So, I say go ahead and do it.

well you should ask them. if they are ivies, they have explicitly stated not to send any additional things.
they have so much on their plates as it is, you dont want to tick them off.
