uhhh my gpa dropped DRASTICALLY junior year due to very personal reasons... 4.0 to a 3.5. i'm bringing it up to a 4.5 senior year. does that mean my reach schools become target schools? how would schools like swarthmore or amherst view that?

The problem is that if you apply to schools this year, they won't see your raised GPA in time for a decision.

i'm wondering how on earth you can bring your GPA up from a 3.5 to a 4.5....it took me a whole year to bring mine from a 4.2 to 4.3

yeah...the colleges won't see your raised GPA, maybe at the semester mark but not the whole year's worth of raising.

well i meant by the half year mark if i apply regular decision and not early decision, trust me i can do it i just want to know if i should even bother to think i have a chance....do i?

yeah upward trends are looked upon favorably. of course you sill have a chance. go for it. i actually intend on doing the same exact thing. that's why i'm not applying EA or ED anywhere this year. i'm going to get my grades up senior year and apply RD so they see the improvement from my first semester senior year grades.
