So I've been brushing my teeth once a month or so for the past four years.

Lol, I am glad you have a sense of humor about this. Shower and brush your teeth everyday. Showers are relaxing, so it does not even need to be seen as chore.

are your teeth brown yet?

I brush 2-3 times a day and rinse(the scope stuff) twice. Just wish I would remember to floss more often.

I like you sanjenferrer, Your funny. Lol.

do you have friends?? since you don't brush nor take showers i assume not

ya know at first i just laughed at this thread thinking it was a bit trollish but the more i think about it the more it IS true. there ARE people in this country to have to means to practice good hygiene yet they dont. i have been looking around (and smelling too) and i see more and more people around in my school who match this story...

so sad

My best friend doesn't brush her teeth more than once or twice a month (and usually when she's with me and we're traveling). She has never had a cavity and her teeth are whiter than me. As much as I don't understand it, I can easily see how someone like her would just not brush, it's so annoying to do!

i refuse to believe bethyy

i would assume that people like the OP dont get cavities because there is a layer of plaque sitting on your teeth.

I've never gotten a cavity either. Go figure. But my dentists do yell at me every time I go there.

Always blamed it on the law of diminishing returns. Plus what do you think humans did before they had toothbrushes?

^ got tooth decay as they approached their 20s-30s, lost their teeth progressively, and got to the point where their food options diminished vastly, died in their 40s or much earlier...

anyways, it's not even the cavities that matter that much. they're painful, but ultimately it's your gums that you should worry about. the fact that you said your gums bleed when you do try and take care of your teeth is the worst part. your oral health affects the rest of your health, and gums bleeding means you have significant plaque damage and may even be pre-gingivital. i don't think you can justify your way out of oral hygiene haha.

wh4t ...that is the most retarded argument I have ever heard.

People didn't have electricity, medicine, soap, cellphones, etc before, why don't you go ahead and live without those too....

Wh4t, u came here for April 1st didn't you?

Good god, and I thought I was acting like a filthy animal when I would skip a tooth-brushing at night when I passed out on my bed and didn't really want to get back up, once a week or so.

" Plus what do you think humans did before they had toothbrushes? "

their teeth rotted out of their heads, much like you see in third world nations present day.
I don't think it is worth the gamble, personally when you think of what is at stake.
Not kust the fact that your food choices will be limited to mush, but gum disease can result in heart problem.
Brush your teeth, floss your teeth and you will not have to worry about any future troubles...not to mention that your chances with potential partners will be seriously affected if your breath smells like something died in your mouth.

besides, early humans had diets with much less sugar and fake stuff than we do today.

I always brushed twice a day and even brushed my tongue but my breath always started to stink in the middle of the day. So I started flossing daily and it was still smelling. So I added a mouthwash and it was OK but not good enough. So i added another brushing session in the day.

^ you might just be dehydrated or haven't opened your mouth enough (spoke). it helps if i just eat something. i don't know what's the max you should brush before it's bad for you.

what were you thinking? :) I dunno about you, but if I don't brush my guilt complex that I've developed in the last 1.7 decades kicks in and I get horrible visions of rotting, holey teeth

Go see a local dentist, they usually give out free extra-soft toothbrushes. Start brushing gently and hopefully life will get better.

I know that this sounds really gross, but I often forget to brush my teeth at night. I always brush in the morning, but I'm so tired at night that I usually just fall asleep w/o thinking about it. My teeth are fine though...no cavities and no stains. That being said, I can't imagine brushing once a month...that's crazy!!
