<p>Leaving high school and stuff… and plus… there are people around me who have gotten into so-called “better” schools like Yale and Brown and Harvard… and they’re making me feel like crap…</p>

<p>Rice is not a “lesser” school. I have immense respect for those who go to HYP and Brown and many people I know there have the same respect for Rice.</p>

<p>I know it isn’t; but I don’t know why I’m letting what I’m hearing get to me.</p>
<p>I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but this is a strange thread to put on here. There are tons of people who would be ecstatic to have gotten accepted. It seems kind of ungrateful to be saying your sad about it and makes you sound insecure about your decision if you let other people put you down so easily.</p>
<p>@RiceHopeful: I said that I’m ecstatic but also a bit sad. I know many people wanted to get in, and I’m glad I got in (was my first choice). I guess I shouldn’t let people get to me so easily.</p>
<p>I should have made myself more clear, Antarius - I wasn’t the one who implied that Rice is a “lesser” school; those around me were the ones.</p>

<p>OP - I am aware… I was just saying that it is patently false. Getting into Rice is very hard and I am still happy that they accepted me.</p>

<p>Edit: to clarify, this is a weird thread, and maybe you shouldn’t have applied to Rice in the first place if you don’t appreciate it for what it is. Rice is substantially different from Brown, Harvard, and Yale. Those who see Rice for its unique offerings immediately understand how it is in fact “better” than all those schools you mention.</p>

<p>Agree with Antarius that Insecurity breeds contempt. Again, I had a lapse in judgement which lead to a stupid moment because I let others make me feel bad. I respect the other schools I mentioned and Rice is unique and wonderful. I’m sorry if I offended anyone, and I’m excited about next year. And… let’s just call it a day, ok?</p>
