If we get admitted for summer term we go and then stay for fall? So we would be there before any other freshmen arrive for fall?

There is a break between the end of summer and the beginning of fall term.
The last Summer session ends 18-AUG and Fall begins 27-AUG. Activity filled Seminole Sensation week occurs for nine days before Fall classes begin. http://ssweek.fsu.edu/

oh wow, ok I get it now. thank you!

Cybermom, I'm assuming though that you have your dorm and possibly your roomate assignments. So you don't have to move out and move back in?

I seem to remember from the visit that the summer admits for incoming Freshman was to take 2 courses vrs a full schedule. I can't remember if it was the type of offer where your Fall attendance would be determined by your summer performance above any standard University grade criteria.

My son was admitted for Fall so I am not an expert in Summer admission.
I may have misled BBECKER since I don't know if freshmen (FTIC) go to Summer Session E which goes to 18-AUG.

I do think you may have to change rooms from Summer to Fall because not all of the dorms are available during the Summer and it is a totally separate housing application. You do not need to change rooms between Fall and Spring and you can leave your non-valuable stuff there if you want over the break.

Which summer session are the FTIC students admitted to? The housing page only mentions A, B and C.

Summer Opening and Closing Dates for 2007

* Summer Session A: Opens May 3, 2007 at 9:00 AM and closes August 4, 2007 at noon.
Summer Session B: Opens May 3, 2007 at 9:00 AM. Summer B students must check out by noon on June 16, 2007.
Summer Session C: Opens June 20, 2007 at 9:00 AM and closes August 4, 2007 at noon.

There are also summer sessions D, E and F which have different start/end dates and lengths.

Summer 2007 May 9 August 18
13 Week (A) May 9 August 3
6 Week (B) May 9 June 15
6 Week (C) June 25 August 3
8 Week (D) June 18 August 10
8 Week (F) (Law) May 9 July 3
8 Week (E) June 25 August 17

Fall 2007 starts AUGUST 27 per the extended calendar.

I would say that a student should not take more than 2 courses during a six-week session. The classes are longer each day than during the Fall and Spring semesters. When you receive your admission it should state if your Fall admittance is contingent on your Summer performance. I don't know the answer.

I did not realize they have a minimum and maximum credit load for the various summer sessions.

A SESSION MIN 9 MAX 15
B & C SESSIONS MIN 6 MAX 9
D, E & F SESSIONS MIN 9 MAX 14

I believe after checking with the housing folks that you may have to move out and then move back in to a different dorm for the fall. Hoping this doesn't happen!!!!! perhaps the summer move in is a couple of towels, one suitcase, a set of sheets, their laptop and a fi****ll of Regal Cinema tickets for entertainment.

Most HS grads I think can by default only do C.

Yep - I'd expect to have to move out of my Summer dorm and into a possibly different one in the Fall.

So I guess they decide what summer term you can attend. When I applied it only gave you the summer 2007 term option. So if you attend summer A do we move out at the end of the session and go home and then come back for fall? So confused.....

bbecker aren't you in HS now? When do you graduate? How could you start college on 5/9 if you haven't graduated by then.

Actually yes I have graduated. I graduated May 17 2006, I went through some family issues and I'm now starting to get back on my feet. I applied to college and I dont want to start in aug, I want to start ASAP so if there's a a summer term that starts may 9th ill be happy to go, plus im sure ill see alot of my old friends who went to fsu there. I'm already feeling awful because I have to start college a year late but everyone goes through problems and I was one of those kids who had major ones and couldnt start school till now.

Why feel awful, things in life happen, we just have to deal with the hand that we are dealt with. From what we have read here about you I at least am highly confident that you'll be walking the campus this summer. I do agree with others that starting slower is the better approach for most kids. I started the 2 boys in General Studies and they went on to graduate with a teaching and computer science degree, my D will be following the same path. I think it is a less stressful and a more success oriented transistion into college until you really know what you want to do.
