So technically if you miss ONE problem on the PSAT math..

you get like a 76. how depressing.

very....missed 2 and got 73 last year.

oh well. got 800 on sat though

i bet its even worse for the writing section...is there any kind of curve??

Actually, I think math is the steepest curve, cause many kids can get them all right.

Well, I omitted 2 and missed probably 2, so I guess I'm screwed out of NMS.

I'm hoping I will get in (I'm guessing I need about a 215 or so...)

I got an 80 on math 99% sure.
For Critical Reading, I think I got a 65-70.
For Writing, I think I got a 70-75.

^ same as above poster.

i only got 3 questions wrong last year on the whole test and i got a 227.. that means each one's worth over 4 points. ridiculouss

^ wow. that's crazyyy.

****! im screwed!!!!

I'm pretty positive i didnt miss a single one in the math section, i finished early and checked all my answers... maths my deal.. but I didnt get to do 4 of the writing section, how badly will this affect me?

I THINK I got all math, one wrong writing, one wrong CR.

So I should be NMS-qualified.

Some of the math wording was very tricky, though. And it's just from math in , like, 6th and 7th grade, so I don't know if I remembered as well as I should have...

I'm sort of in the same boat as swarzagor... I think math went great (knock on wood), but in my case the scariest was the critical reading. Still thinking (/hoping) I qualified for NMS, though.

In my test prep class, we took a practice PSAT and had to calculate our own scores, and I noticed that writing has the biggest curve - one question wrong is still an 80. At least that's what it was in 2005, I believe, and my teacher thought that the scoring hadn't changed since then.

Why does writing have the biggest curve? That's like the easiest section. It's all basic English grammar.

I always seem to miss one or two on the math due to careless mistakes...

I checked over my work 2 times for each question (since it takes me like 12 minutes to do the thing carelessly).

I'm pretty sure I got all of them write.

As for writing, it seems that a lot of people mess up at the improving paragraphs at the end if they got everything else right.

Liist, you might of missed the one that differentiated between write and right :P
And now I probably confused two words here and look like an idiot... oh well, I couldn't resist

critical reading has the biggest curve

last year i missed one math and got a 76
one writing and got a 77

totaled 222, one point shy of the MA cutoff

yeah I hate how high the MA cut off is compared to every other state

On the 2006 test, 2/39 wrong in Writing = 74, while 2/48 wrong in Critical Reading = 80.

Nice catch, hockey.

I was thinking of the writing section at the time and I was really tired when I was writing. (Almost typed "righting")
