So, I mailed in the supplements around November 10, well before the deadline. I was expecting the updates on the site to show that they had received it because it says that even if it says it's missing, it might just be the bulk of mail preventing them from updating the status before November 30. I checked November 30, not up. December 1, nope. Yesterday, nothing. But today, I get a note in class from my counselor saying that Middlebury College called to tell him that I was still missing all of the supplements and that I need to turn them in ASAP. We're not sure if we can fax them and apologize a million times, so if everything falls through I'll probably have to wait another month. Not that that's horrible, but I was looking forward to next Saturday just so I can have some closure with it even if I'm rejected. More waiting... sigh

Did this happen to anyone else? Or am I just really unlucky?

A little helpful hint; When my daughter applied to college last year (including Middlebury), she included a pre-paid postcard in everything she mailed to colleges via "snail mail." When her package was received at the Admissions Office, the college put the return postcard in the mail to her and, when we received the postcard, we knew her package had been received. It worked like a charm and saved us a lot of worry!

My son applied RD to Middlebury two years ago and sent all the supplements on Jan 2 because the 1st was a Sunday and we missed the Sat. mail pick-up. Needless to say, we were worried they wouldn't accept them since he had missed the deadline. However, a month later, my son got an email that said they never received the supplements and that he should resend them. In fact, they had a record of one thing he sent (a video) but not the graded essay which was in the same package. Of course, we had sent the original copy of the graded essay (duh!) and so we just resent the same essay without teacher comments. Happily, he was still accepted! So don't give up... just send the supplements again ASAP. I think the admissions office will try to do everything possible to review all candidates.
