So what is Move-In like?

Can someone sorta walk me through the process? I've seen the video UCLA has on YouTube, and I get the general idea of it but if anyone could talk me through the process, that'd be great. I just wanna be able to plan things out a bit. Also, I have to pick up my BruinCard, so should I get it before or after unloading?

I'm in Rieber Vista, if it helps.

Basically, you won’t be able to park right in front of Rieber Vista (i.e. Rieber Court). Instead, you will be redirected to whatever parking lot you were assigned (check your Housing account). There will be carts at the parking lot that you can check out with your student ID and trucks that help you ship them to Rieber Court (in your case). Then you can walk to Rieber Court, wait for the trucks holding your stuff to arrive, and then roll your carts up the elevators to your room to unpack. Remember to tell your parents/relatives that 4 people (including yourself?) are entitled to free meals during move-in weekend (check to make sure with the dining office)!

Try to pick up your bruincard as early as possible, as I do not know if they need it for you to check out carts; in any case, you will probably need it when you go check-in at the Rieber front desk to get your room key (so you can get into your room!).

just moved in son tonight to Saxon Suites . time slot was friday 5 -6 pm.

Went to lot 7, parked in unloading area and was given 2 “4 ft x 4ft x 4ft” carts to load our son’s stuff in. After stuff was unloaded, was told to move car to another area.

The now loaded carts were now put on a truck, while passengers waited for a shuttle. Saxon /Rieber people were loaded onto a shuttle that went to Rieber (from there, Saxon students walked to Saxon, where we found our carts waiting for us).

You need your bruin card to check -in. . .so if you don’t have one yet, you need to do that first.

Whole process took about 1 hour. For us, it was “first come, first get to choose” the bed and closet they wanted. Bring a extension cord /power strip – or even two. We didn’t bring any and ended up going to the target in Westwood to buy some (and also dont forget hangers)

We didn’t know about the free meal, we went to Westwood for dinner.
