I know a lot of people on CC are concerned because they think their SAT scores are "too low." Well, so we can put that in context, I think it would be a good idea (and kind of interesting) to see what the average SAT score on CC is. So, post your score, and, after one hundred people have posted, I'll find the average. We can compare that average to the national average, which, I think, is about 1600.

well that's hard to determine, but from what I've seen the average is probably around 1850.

Doubt that, the 2005 National median was 510 for verbal and 520 for math so I would def put the new national average at about 1500-1560

yeah i heard that the SAT has gotten harder, and I definitely agree. I studied my asss off on math and got the same exact score...so something is up. But hey, I scored well so I'm happy if the average goes down. That's right, I said it.

:)

From the post on this board, I can say that the average is like 2100...

i disagree...there are much more "average" people than amazing

people just tend to notice the amazing people more.

how about we find out?

yea.. the new SAT sucks..i dnno. i do good in class but i suck at taking timed exams. sothats not good for me. do you guys have any tips on how to do better?? i took the SAT for the first time in may and got 1360 or something..and then took the ACT for the first time and got a 19. is that bad???:| i think so.. thats like an F on both tests isnt it?
man i'm screwed!:(

oh, i'm really new to this and dont really understand how to use this. how do i keep track of what i posted and which forum i went into? can anyone send me a message please??

a) A forum in which you posted will have small red star on it
b) a forum with a yellow circle has new posts
thats about it

yeah 2100 is way high. There are smart people, but if you check out the "Uber exclusive 2300 club" and my "semi-exclusive 2200-2290 club," there really aren't that many people. And trust me, when someone gets a high score, they'll usually brag about it. I see far more 1900 and 2000s, and considering those with lower scores usually don't want to post them, the average is probably around 1850, give or take 50 points. That is my final answer.

oh ok. thanks. i appreciate it.

I'm estimating the average is 2200 with the median being 2250.

lol i doubt that...just because i scored a 2220 and don't want to be considered average. :)

But seriously, highly doubtful.

I think the OP's point was to compile a list of SAT scores from everyone so we COULD get an average.

Hmmm, i guess that's not going very well :D

should we make a poll with, like, 30 point brackets? there would be quite a few categories, but that way it would be anonymous, so people that didn't score ridiculously well wouldn't feel too intimated to share their score.

that sounds good, anyways I say the average is somewhere around 1900-2000

btw, are there fewer people getting higher scores than on the old test? b/c before it seemed a lot of people had 1600s... and now, I haven't seen any 2400s around

probably b/c you have so much more test to complete plus getting yourself around that essay portion is quite painful. But I'm sure if they kept it a two part test the numbers would be similar.
