So when will I hear back?

I submitted my application in October; I haven’t been given a hint on when my decision will be released (other than End of Feburary) and I am getting a little stressed.

BTW, Can I submit my December ACT (it was better) and have it still considered?

I still haven’t heard back after applying in October as well and it is really stressful to wait so long. I emailed them about a month ago and they were really kind in saying that a majority of their decisions come out in January and February. I still haven’t heard back though

If you haven’t heard back by now you most likely aren’t getting accepted

What? There were acceptances into early April last year.

@marzipan1. @TransferGopher doesn’t know what he or she is talking about. I spoke with Admissions three weeks ago. There have been no decisions on the majority of early applications. She said decisions would go out in February. You can call them yourself; they are very nice.

“most likely aren’t getting accepted” PS I am very, very familiar with the admissions situation at the U wink wink. Most acceptances have already gone out. Trust me.

@TranferGopher I think you said on another thread that you worked in Admissions. Can you clarify what “acceptances already gone out” actually means? For instance, does that mean the person’s status on Application Tracker has actually been updated? Because if so then there wouldn’t be a need for this thread - people can just check the Tracker. Is it possible that the committee has made the majority of decisions by now but that those “Yeas/Nays” need to be entered on the Tracker?

Also, you are a transfer student - are you working with Admissions on transfer admission or first year admission?

And then, people, make sure to check the Application Tracker because that will give you the latest information available. Snail Mail packet takes a couple of weeks (this is true for many universities and colleges, btw). Typically, the Tracker has gone from a generic message to “Your application being considered” before stating the results of a decision. Some applicants have become discouraged and are no longer checking the Tracker . . . that would be a mistake at this time of year!!! Remember the saying: “Apply by Thanksgiving, Hear Back by Valentines Day, Decide by Easter” (or something like that).

  • It means almost all acceptances have gone out. I'm not even 100% sure why it's done this way. But I know it's different this year than last. If you haven't received a decision expect either a wait list or a denial. Again it's super complicated.
  • Both

My D applied in mid-late November and heard back in early to mid-January.

When do Fall 2015 transfer applicants hear back TransferGopher?

I applied at the end of October and I just got accepted today! So they are clearly still releasing (at least some) acceptances.

Care to retrack Transfer Gopher?

Congratulations @yaygiraffes‌ !!! Welcome to Minnesota - Ski-U-Mah!!!

@wayneandgarth Our high school college counselor used to work at Minnesota and knows the admissions folks well. She called Monday and was told that decisions should go out by the end of February and that students should not stress out if they have not heard anything yet.

Party on!

I will stand by what I said, and that 98% of admissions decisions to the competitive schools have gone out.

@TransferGopher, can you please clarify which are the competitive schools? Are you talking CSE, CBS, and CSoM? What about CLA? And given that they consider admission to CLA as a “2nd choice” for some who don’t get into a more competitive college, wouldn’t there still be a chance for that scenario to occur?

The person so confident that 98% of admissions decisions have gone out has Johnny Manziel as his profile picture… I think his credibility is questionable.

CLA has more decisions going out than anything. And they will go out for a while. People are currently getting denied to CSOM/CSE/CBS and getting accepted to CLA. They won’t be attending CLA, opening space for others.

But whatever. Believe me or not. I don’t care.

OK that makes sense. Thanks, @TransferGopher. BTW, I believe you do have a bit of an inside scoop and appreciate the update.

I would think that a number of those accepted were also accepted to other universities and as those applicants make their final decisions that spots will open up…
