So...who's paying?

I was just wondering how many of you are actually paying for part of tuition, living expenses, books, etc...

My parents and I decided that they would pay for the tuition and housing while I pay for my books and living expenses ($1200 estimated each semester).

Loans from the school and the bank.

My parents are paying for my undergrad, and plus 1 year (I'm a transfer student, so only 2 years apply) of housing.

I will be covering grad school as well as a year of my undergrad housing.

Parents took out a loan for freshman year tuition, I paid for everything else (living expenses, tuition, housing, etc.).

I'm in the same situation as the OP -- parents pay tuition and housing, I pay for books, food, and shopping sprees ;)

How can you guys afford it? A part-time job in college wouldn't be able to cover my expenses...and i'm definitely not ivy league

Private loans will help you cover tuition and housing not covered by financial aid.

Working part or full-time should cover your living expenses, textbooks, travel, entertainment, etc.

A summer job is sufficient for me to pay off books/other expenses (about $2400). I'll be a freshman at Hopkins this fall.

I'm parentally funded.. I applied for financial aid and was granted a full $0... and my parents didn't want me taking out student loans.. at least it's an in-state public university so tuition could be worse. I plan on paying my dad back after I get a job & some money saved up. I'm on a monthly stipend of $1000 to cover ALL expenses.. but before you say "that's alot" - my rent is going to be $965/month next year since I'm choosing to live alone. I got a well paying summer job that will help me pay for everything over that $1000.

My parents currently pay for my dorm, living expenses and meals since I took care of my tuition with various scholarships. So...my college contribution is $0.

College gives 25k, parents pay 10k, i pay 5k, and loans pay 5k

$1200 as semester?? Where do you go to school. I'm jealous...when I move out of the dorms next year, my rent will be about $600 a MONTH. To share a bedroom!

My parents have told me that when I go to college in the fall of 2006 (and in my subsequent undergrad years) they will pay the price of tuition at the local U. This is about 3,000/year. I will have to come up with the rest. :( We're pretty poor, so hopefully FA will come through for me in a big way. My parents feel that "If WSU is good enough for the 15,000 kids that attend, it's good enough for you."

my parents thankfully pay for everything.

i'm paying everything so far...
my tuition is split into 3 quarters
about $3000 each quarter. Cal Grant pays for most of it and i only have to pay ~$345. Books ... I consider them free because i buy extra books cheap and sell them back for better price =) things even out so my boosk are free hehe.

I"m gonna take out loans to hoepfully buy a car. Iono if i'm allowed to though. If anyone knows, please help!!

My mother pretty much said to me, When I was 20 I paid for college, my car, food and sheleter. So she said, I will not help you.

But not that we dont have money, she is a Doctor.

Sorry megg, I should clarify. The $1200 includes the price of books, school supplies, laundry, photocopying, university stuff, etc... My parents are paying for the tuition and housing.

Hehe...I can say the same about my parents, Scotch. They have more than enough money to support all of my costs, but I guess they just want me to learn how to manage my own money. -_-

I'm taking out Stafford loans, using a full time summer job and part time job during the academic part of the year to pay for books, food (my school has no meal plans), plane tickets, entertainment, and all other living expenses. For the rest of the tuition and housing bills my parents took out a PLUS loan but they told me I would have to pay them back.

Paying tuition this year, 4200 euro. Saved it all myself working over the summer and living frugally and NOT buying a PSP. :)
I live at home, but I'm also paying for books, transport and all of that too.
