i am considering applying early action next fall, but i have a few questions:

I have a strong upward trend and would hopefully like to continue this into senior year. I know i can submit first semester grades if i get deferred, but would it be safer to apply regular decision so they can have them on the get-go?

I am going to take the ACT in September, but if I do not do well, and I were to take the ACT on October 27 (the expected date on the ACT's website for the October test), would I be able to update my score if i was deferred if I do better on the October test? I have SAT scores as well but they are not that strong and I feel that I would be able to get a higher ACT score

On michigan's website on the checklist for what is due includes a school report and a teacher evaluation. This is all through the Common App, right?

No, apply early action. When you’re deferred, you’re just thrown straight into the regular applicant pool.

Probably not, the scores for the October test don’t come out til mid-November, which I’m pretty sure is too late for the early action pool.

Yep.

Let everyone know if you have any more questions!

Definitely apply early action! There’s really no downsides to it. Unless your stats are way below what Michigan wants/expects (which I doubt since you’re on this website and all. . .:p) then probably the worst that could happen is you get deferred, which gives you another chance to be accepted come springtime. And I know a few people who were accepted after being deferred, so it’s not as if all hope is lost or anything after a deference.
And about being able to update your ACT scores after being deferred…I don’t see why you couldn’t do that, but I was accepted early action last year, so I’m no expert.
