Varsity athlete and haven't had time to prep as much as I'd like. I really don't think my score will improve by much, maybe 1 point or so to be honest. Should I even bother taking it next week or switch date for Oct 26? If Oct 26 I know I won't have a new score for Early Action deadline but I was told you can submit updated score after and it "might" be taken into consideration. Not sure what to do. Maybe take it next week AND Oct 26?

Might as well take it both times, never hurts.

Take it earlier, get the better score. Commit some time before the 21st and make it happen.

Be sure to send in your September score with your application to qualify for EA.

Take it in Sept and Oct. set up now to send scores directly.

My kid was a recruited athlete to Michigan - if you sign an NLI in November your sport, you may not even have scores back from Oct testing.

October score may be late for EA.

I took it last spring and did well, but I’d be on the low end of median scores for Michigan.

It’s not sketch to take it 3 times? My scores should be upward, but still. I think some of the Ivies average out your scores or at least look at you differently if you have more than 2 ACT/SAT scores, no? Am I going to have to explain that travel soccer in the summer and varsity soccer in the fall prevented me from dedicating myself or something?

What? No… you only send the scores that you want. I took the ACT 4 times and only sent 1 score. Take it as many times as you need to.

Apply EA, take the October ACT, if your score improves, send it to UMich.

admissions told me they can see all of my scores. is that true?

Unless the application specifically asks to report all scores, then no they can’t see all your tests scores. They’ll only see the ones you send in.

“SAT or ACT with writing test scores must be received by Nov. 1” [Early Action | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/early)

You need to have at least one test score in by Nov 1 to hold your spot in EA. Send your current score now and then send your Oct score if it improves.

What GoBlue said. Exactly.

Follow the rules of every admissions website. If they say they need all materials by a certain date, that is what they mean.

Michigan is very strict with this EA rule. A student of mine thought she would have all scores sent for November test date and before, even though we discussed sending October scores directly. She missed EA boat.

Same will apply to most universities, unless they specifically say they will take tests after that date.
