-What should I do about team awards? I'm a varsity member of our tennis team, but I don't have enough space to explain my team's accomplishments in addition to my position, that i'm varsity, and my individual accomplishments. Should I put it into the description? I also have additional activities concerning tennis

-What do I do with "violin"? I do a lot of things with violin, and I won't have enough space to cover everything. I'm in my school orchestra where I've held various positions in various grades, I take private lessons, I practice up to 2 hours a day, I'm in a local orchestra, and I've been in the regional/all state orchestras. Does the school orchestra count as an EC?

-I don't have enough space for all my activities. I've put my most important 6 down, and have room for one more, but I can't decide between Pit Orchestra (I spent a ton of time in this, but didn't do it junior year and may or may not do it senior year), National Honor Society (elected secretary, but won't start till senior year), or track (i wasn't very involved but i was varsity and put my time in, but i didn't accomplish much).

I would like to put NHS there, because Secretary is probably the one of the biggest jobs, but I won't know where to put weeks/year, and hours.

I might have more questions later. Thanks!

If you run out of room, you can put them in the additional information space.

You can also attach a resume if you feel like you have a lot to say but not enough space.

You should definitely include everything that you think really describes you and think will be good for adcoms to see.

Thanks for your reply.

I’m still wondering what I should do about tennis/violin, and whether I should just put a big general “Violin” down as an activity, or just try and list all my musical things down, as well as violin lessons.

I’m still not sure about NHS either, I don’t know what to do with it as an activity because even though I know the hours/week and approximate weeks/year, I haven’t actually started it yet.

Also, what should I do about hours? Some activities, like Pit Orchestra, usually only take up 5 hours a week for a couple weeks, but during hell week it is like 30 hours a week for 1 week, and then around 10 hours a week for another week. Do I average them out (like .55+.2530+.25*10) or something?

-Don’t put down team awards. Your team’s performance doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with you directly, so colleges shouldn’t care at all.

-I’d say just put down violin as a single activity. Then list your awards in its description.

-Like HiPeople said, upload a resume, or simply list your other activities in the Additional Information space.

-With future activities like NHS, wait until those activities actually start before submitting your application (which will likely be after school starts…) so that you know the details, OR remove them from your activities list and add them to the Additional Information section, mentioning that you fully intend to participate in the near future. No harm either way!

-Average your hours per week and weeks per year if it varies.
