I was just hoping for some help on selecting a college. I have a 2.9 GPA, but at one of, if not the, most prestigious boys schools in the country. I participate actively in Model UN, and will have amassed 8 varsity letters by graduation, additonally, I have traveled to Europe with the schools glee club, and went to france one summer to better my french. my parents both went to dartmouth if tha factors into your decision

bballman, just trying to get an idea of what you are looking for. Where do you live and what state/area are you looking for? Also, do you want a big or small school, rural or city? D1 sports? Do you have any SAT/ACT scores? Thanks.

I really don't want to be in the city, i don't care as far as rurla versus suburban. D1 sports would definately be a plus, but its not going to be my deciding factor. I would like to either remain in the north east where i live now, or move out west for college. Size of the school is not my biggest worry as long as all of my individual classes arent huge lectures. I have not yet taken my SAT's, but plan to do so soon.

Bballman, it sounds like you have a lot going for you and attending a very prestigious school can't hurt. I would look at schools like Franklin & Marshall, Skidmore, Colorado College, Union, and Richmond. Larger schools like Tulane, Syracuse, Boston U. Oregon and Colorado. I know you said that you really didn't want the city, but I put some down just in case. Don't know if this has been helpful, but I think you will do very well and end up at a good school. Best of luck!

I would suggest you use the collegeboard search engine. You need to narrow down size of school, geographic area, etc. in order to come up with a starting list. Using the search engine will steer you towards questions that will help come up with a starting list.

ok well for size i would like to be on the smaller end. I don't want to be at a huge school, a smaller size of medium all the way down to small is fine with me. Geographically if I cant be in the north east i want the west coast

What are your test scores?

i havent taken the SAT yet, I'm still pretty early in the process

Given that, is there a chance to bring up the gpa a bit?

ya i think so, i have some grades i can definately bring up, i could probably get it up to somewhere between 3.1 and 3.4 by the end of the year. Does that give you any ideas?
