Somebody Help Me! Rhonda? Anyone?

Okay here's the deal...thus far on my SAT II SUBJECT TESTS I have achieved 800 on USH 680 Math 1 and 670 BioE....I'm going to be a senior next year and want to apply early action to a school which looks at your 3 HIGHEST SAT II's. Anyways, I'm planning on taking Lit in Oct., its a strength of mine, I'm testing in the 700s...However that still leaves 1 more test I need over 700...I would take World History BUT ITS NOT OFFERED IN OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER ARGHHHHH...I do not think I could break 700 in chem/phys/mathI/mathII...BUT...My question to all of you GOOD PEOPLE is could I possibly self-study BIOLOGY and this time I'll make sure to take M...I HAVENT TAKEN BIOLOGY SINCE 9th GRADE...though I'm taking AP this year it won't help me all that much in October/November...IS THERE A BOOK I COULD SELF-STUDY AND ACTUALLY BREAK THE 700 BARRIER...and I'll also make sure to take Molecular this time....RECOMMENDATIONS/ADVICE ANYONE?!?!?!?!?!

get barrons book for bio, and read over their biology review. That will get you a guranteed over 700 if you really KNOW your stuff.
good luck

Thanks...Just ordered it on amazon...I'm real good at memorization and what not, hence my USH grade, not so much at actually understanding scientific/mathematical concepts...hopefully I absorb this info just as well...thanks for your help!

You mean "really good." Real is adjective, Really is adverb. haha. Well that'll help you for the Writing section of the SAT.

hahaha....go figure...My SAT I scores...800 CR 740 M.......680 W ahh oh well...thanks for the info anyways :-)

you must be a genuis for CR, I suck at CR it's my weakest subj on SAT

I like the title of this thread. Very creative.

i second aigoo1113, barrons All the way...guarnteed 750+ if u do it right ....only needs like a month to do ( i did it in 2 weeks...but ..w.e lol)

I just need to ask this, but who is Rhonda?

I don't think she's a real person, and AJ just used her to emphasize that he needs help from anyone, regardless of who they are lol

The title is a reference to the song "Help Me Rhonda" by the Beach Boys...I hope somebody caught it, though I like etti's interpretation also lol.

ohh now i get it, the only songs I know from the Beach Boys are surfing USA and kokomo...classics!

Barron's

If you are really committed, then buy an AP Biology textbook and skim over concepts.

Also keep in mind that there's no "magical prep book" that will get you over the 700 mark. Just like there's no magical "diet pill" that can melt off your body fat without killing you, raising your score over 700 takes understanding.

But like I said, a good AP textbook should do.

not worth it, Especaily if ur just doing SAT II, or else u might as well just do the AP test.
Barrons WILL Get u Above 700 and probably above 750 if u do it RIGHT..and by that i mean like MEMORIZE it...

Screw Barrons. I have Barrons, Kaplan's, and Princeton Review. I dun like any of them very much.

Barrons - lot of extra info (I mean a lot)
Kaplans - eh there was a lot of focus on cellular destiny or whatever you call it
(blastocytes, endoderm and stuff).
Princeton - basic bare bones guide. questions are ok.

If you want to take a very basic approach, Princeton has all you need for a 700.

Barrons is pretty bad. I did not use it since there was so much extra info.
Kaplans was ok. I skimmed through Kaplans and some of the topics that Kaplan didn't cover that were in Princeton Review. Took tests from Kaplans, but the best prep in my opinion was Cliffs AP Biology. I spent around 2 hours doing prep for SAT bio mostly from kaplans. I didn't really have to study much though since I am pretty solid on bio. 800, but I recommend Princeton Review and Kaplan's for some extra info.

No one is going to be able to memorize Barrons. THe font is ugly and it is not worth it. 40% is useless.

I'm studying PR, then Barron's, then doing as many tests as I can. I hope I'll get over 750.

fastMEd you got some serious bad attitude... maybe barrons does have more information than it should, but it's better to know more than to know less.

I on the other hand, like barrons a lot and I disagree with your statement that the font is ugly....
Yes, Princeton is a good book to prepare, but for me barrons ALLL THE WAYYY... like Xylem101>>>>>>
