Should I go to Furman or Chapman? Please help..

go to Furman

Chapman in CA? We live in CA, D is at Furman so I’ve seen both: Furman absolutely!

If you want to be a film major and live in southern California, Chapman would be acceptable. However, if you don’t plan on majoring in film or care about where you live, Furman has a much better overall academic reputation. Good luck!

@ernchurl: I live in Vermont so both are a huge change! What made your daughter decide Furman?

The two schools are quite different. What made you apply to both schools? Maybe try to focus on what appeals to you about each school. Furman is a stronger academic school but Chapman may have a major or lifestyle you desire. Look into the city of Orange as well. The area may appeal to you the area may not. (I am a former SoCal girl) Greenville is a wonderful and vibrant town. IMO

My D wanted to go outside CA for college, had read about Furman in one of our guide books and liked the very friendly atmosphere. She also was attracted to the beautiful campus and the many different opportunities to become involved on campus. I visited Chapman with my son last year and the campus was deserted on Friday afternoon at 4 pm. I have heard it may be more of a commuter school. Don’t know if that is true or not but it is something to look into.

FURMAN!

Really. You won’t regret the rigor of the education among people who will champion and support you as you move on. Furman will love teaching a West Coaster or a New Englander—you are wanted and the faculty has so much to offer.
