.. i honestly see not legit reason to deny me. im perfectly qualified people have been encouraging me to apply for UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN with these stats i just cant grasp the idea that i didnt get into state.

Middle 50% of admitted students GPA: 3.4-3.8. Yours: 2.9. Uhhh…

Sub 3.0s DO NOT WORK anymore for MSU. I have friends who get rejected with GPAs .3 higher than yours and with ACTs 3 points higher than your average. They have a right to be mad, you do not.

Btw, who ever is telling you to apply to UMich is not well informed. I mean you can apply all you want, but…

EDIT:
Looking at your other posts, you have Ds and Fs on your transcript? In what way did you think that failing classes was going to get you into the 2nd highest rated university in the state?

romanigypsyeyes, I think your comment was very rude. I think i should’ve been accepted to state and I don’t care whether or not you think I was deserving. I have every right to be upset with the admissions people there.

And FYI, I applied to Ann Arbor. And I’ve been told I have a very, very good chance because of my ACT score.

Lastly, I failed math because i challenged myself more than I should have. You learn from failure and I wrote about that in the essay. I got a 3.86 first quarter of senior year (3.9 weighted) because of what i learned from my failures.

You asked why you got rejected. S/he gave you an answer. I agree that the tone of his/her post was a bit rude, but asking for opinions and then complaining when they don’t support your position is a waste of both our time and yours.

Categorizing schools as 30% chance, 50% chance and 70% chance, looks to me like with your ACTs and your grades that you are somewhere in the 30% - 50% chance of getting into Ann Arbor.

Your trajectory - excellent grades senior year - may overcome weaker GPA.

Everybody should have reaches, matches and safety schools.

What are your safeties? (Hopefully you will not need them, but just in case . . .)

Kei

P.S. Here’s the data off of Princeton Review for MSU:
ACT Middle 50%: 23 - 27
Math Middle 50%: 22 - 28
English Middle 50%: 22 - 28
Writing Middle 50%: 21 - 27

Your GPA gives you NO shot at being accepted into Michigan. Sorry, not trying to be rude, but your expectations are wildly out of touch with your stats.

Nicole, you came off as entitled, it bothered me, so I answered appropriately. Yes, it was probably rude. I do not apologize. You think you DESERVED to get into a school, you do not. You will get into a school, but expecting to get into MSU when you are ~.7 GPA points lower than their average is wrong, sorry.

I answered your question of why you did not get in. Sorry it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. You will most likely not get into UMich either (I’d say 15%). Your ACT score is in the middle, your GPA is way out of range.

Wow. Based on the OP’s other threads, she worked her ass off in high school, but still couldn’t thrive. There are a lot of people like that who really give it their all and still can’t succeed, and I believe the OP is a good example, assuming what she says is truthful.

romanigypsyeyes, I don’t know who you are to decide who does and doesnt deserve to get accepted. I think the OP should’ve gotten in.

Look: I feel for the OP, I do. I know what it’s like to get screwed over by being put in the wrong classes. But for someone to feel entitled to go to a school, to be mad that they got rejected when her stats are clearly way under MSU’s norms, is just wrong. That is what I was angry about. Her GPA is WELL under the MSU’s average and her ACT was not nearly high enough to get her in on tests alone and yet she felt as though she deserved to get in. It was the sense of entitlement that irritated me.

That is a .4 increase in GPA. With a 3.3 and a 29, yes the OPs shot of getting into MSU would have been very good. Her courseload was very rigorous, it’s only her GPA that kept her out.

I understand the OP is frusturated in not getting accepted, and although OP stats are below MSU average I doubt MSU looks through applications with the mindset of what their average is in accepting students and what to write students off with. I more so see the average for prospective students to have an ideal of generally the students that are usualy accepted as opposed to those who are not. Though doubtfully the school does not use the average as a guide to get through applications, thats more so the individual review process of the application itself.

OP I agree with romanigypseyes that your GPA is a large factor on why you were not admitted perhaps you have other great schools you still can get admitted into.

I agree that they don’t look at their average when reviewing apps, but when they see a transcript with Ds and Fs, they are not going to be accepted.
