something to do in the summer..?

i am a junior right now. i am thinking about doing a career in science. maybe a medical researcher or something like that. i was thinking, i don't want to sit around at home this summer. but i can't afford these expensive programs that cost like $5000 plus airfare.

is there something i can do like take some extra classes. something that will help me out, like latin classes?
i live in new jersey.

While Latin can be beneficial, I wouldn’t think it would be a particular selling point to colleges. You should find someone to do research with, or volunteer, or take medically related courses (sciences, computer programming, math). There are free programs/internships, and even ones that pay. Most of those opportunities however have deadlines that are passed.
