Am I reading this right…(once accepted) to apply to the Honor’s Program you just have to fill out the online app and then, the UA folks determine if they want to invite you to apply to the Fellow’s Program?

*the UA folks determine if they want to invite you to apply to the Fellow’s Program? *

If you have the minimum UFE stats req’ts, you **will **receive an invite to apply. If you don’t have the minimum, you can have your GC nominate you (based on the criteria of the website).

^This is very, very cool. How lucky can we be? I am so excited about this school. My son is even more excited. What a find!

I was just looking at Honors info-I thought the GPA needed to be a 3.5-it says 3.3-My D has a 3.35 maybe higher and made a 32 on ACT- what does she qualify for? Just wanted to ask those of you that know more about the HONORS program.

Honors college and scholarships are not the same thing, I believe the 3.3 entrance requirement applies to “current UA” students interested in joining the Honors College.

For incoming freshmen, GPA isn’t considered…only test scores. So, your D is good to go.

She can apply to any and all of the different honors programs. :)

Ok Thanks for clearing that up- then she doesn’t qualify for the instate scholarship b/c her GPA is not a 3.5?

^hlsess, I’m just a parent of a prospective student, so I know nothing first hand other than what I’ve learned on our campus visit, via the website, and through CC. Just so you know – I’m no expert. But based on what I’ve learned …

As mom2college pointed out, your daughter can apply and will be accepted into the honors program based on her ACT alone. That’s the HONORS program.

You’re asking about merit scholarships in your next post, right? Based on what we’ve learned so far, you’re right – she doesn’t qualify for the instate scholarship. Those are awarded based on BOTH test scores AND gpa. Maybe she can bring up the gpa between now and the application due date?

Wishing you the best!

Your daughter can be considered for scholarships without a 3.5 GPA. She needs the 3.5 for automatic acceptance for a scholarship.

What is the typical test score and GPA an entering freshman would need to have in order to be considered for scholarships?

Generally for scholarship consideration, an entering freshman with an ACT of 24 or SAT of 1090 (critical reading and math) and a cumulative 3.0 GPA will be reviewed.

Ok- thanks- I haven’t researched it fully yet -
I did read that the only look at GPA from 9-11th grade so 12th doesn’t count

^ oh yeah. I should have been more clear … she doesn’t qualify for the ASSURED scholarships until she brings her gpa up a tad bit more.

hless…

Is that your D’s weighted GPA?

I believe so

The GC said if a grandparent went they get $1,000 off-My mother went but didn’t graduate-My father went to medical school-will either of them count?

Never mind I found it
