Thought maybe we could compile a list of the people who are attending USC next fall. Maybe with a little description of how you reached your decision.

Personally, I decided to attend USC due to the financial aid. Carolina Scholars assured me that money wouldn't be a problem. Which is more than I could say about Emory and WUSTL, both of which I would've had to shell out ~20k a year.

My Daughter will be attending. The Capstone Scholars program and scholarships clinched it for her, but some of the things she liked most were the school spirit, the good communications we had from the school and the beautiful campus. She wanted a big campus experience and was able to find it in a great climate as well.

S is attending.Scholarships, sport Management opportunities, nice climate and great campus and wonderful interactions with staff and faculty.Like PA Mom's D,S wanted a big campus and liked the urban atmosphere. He's looking forward to Orientation on June 9 (let me know if anyone else is going that day!) and to the first home football game.
Go Gamecocks!!

After much angst, last minute travel, and then more deliberation, D decided on USC. D is happy with her decision and as this is my third round of college shopping in the space of 4 years, I am happy too.

Going. Carolina Scholar = attention and money that I wouldn't get at other accepted schools like Duke, Emory, UVA, etc. Two of my classmates are Carolina Scholars as well.

S and H are on their way back from Orientation. It's too late to request a roomate match on UChoose, rooms are already assigned. There was a cutoff date sometime in May for UChoose (S missed it). You're option will be to request a change in August when classes start. When you go to Orientation you'll come home with your room assignment (though not roomates name..not till July 1) and you'll have seen the room in Maxcy as part of the Orientation day tour.PM me if you want to be in touch with S, though being instate you probably know more people than he does there! You match up on your profile except he sleeps later and stays up later.By the way he was able to get a great schedule.only two early days and no classes on Friday!

Wow. I had no idea - so if we had not already (mutually) requested a roommate, then we were randomly assigned? I guess I don't mind that - less work for me.

Sigh, my orientation isn't till the 22nd, I bet I'll end up getting all the early classes :(

Spets, I was one of the people you sent an e-mail to about roommates. I'm hoping that I get somebody good as a roommate, it's starting to worry me. Not many people at orientation seemed to be staying at Capstone.

Weren't you a carolina scholar? Why capstone over maxcy? Regardless, yeah, don't worry too much about the roommate. Worst case scenario: you don't get along but you'll only see him periodically.

steeler
Gave S your message but he's been out.He does remember playing spades while waiting to be advised. He says to look on VIP you'll have your sc.edu e mail account and can use facebook now. Did you request Capstone as your first choice? I thought they tried to put all the McNairs and Carolina's into Maxcy.
Spets...yes there was a cutoff I think about May 15.S was a couple of hours too late and called housing and was denied the request. They told him to inquire at Orientation of the Honors people directly to see what they could do but he decided not to persue it further, and to take the roll of the dice. You can also request changes during a certain period at the beginning of the semester. You are going to love Orientation and the personal attention you get.

I know a few people who were also rooming at Capstone, and it has a place to eat on the first floor. Without that, I probably wouldn't ever eat breakfast. I just really liked Capstone's rooms, and with Maxcy it was a bit more hit or miss. If I had gotten Maxcy as my second choice I wouldn't have been disappointed in anyway, it's closer to Pendleton as it is.

And as a Carolina Scholar, nobody really talked to me about specifically going to Maxcy or anything. Hopefully everything will work out though, and good luck with all of your roommate assignments!
