soph transfer out of cc to a 4yr?

can i transfer out of cc after frosh year and go to a 4 year as soph? know anyone who done that? how hard is it? what does it take?

you wouldn't be the first...many people do that. What school you can get into depends on your high school grades, as they'll be looked at just as much as those earned in CC. Many ppl wait to transfer as a junior b/c then colleges mainly use CC grades.

^ Yup, there is an inverse correlation between how much they weight the high school record and the amount of college units already completed.

awesome. alright. then i have options. i got accepted to UC Riverside as mechanical engineer. went to orientation, and hated the place. should i just go there for 1st year. work. and try and transfer out then. or should i just go to community for a year and transfter from there?

If you are trying to transfer to another UC (UCLA, UCSD or UCB), go to community college.

If you are trying to tranfer to an elite (Ivy + Stanford etc), go to UCR.

alright. thanks cardinal. im prolly gonna do ucr.. just so i can get the whole living on my own experiance and try and get good grades. that school sucks tho. i hate it already. and then after a year hopefully ill be able to get out and go to davis. or barbara. or anywhere else for that matter just not ucr.

^ Try for UCB.

We need more CCers up there. ;)

some colleges require a diffrent amount of credits to be considered a transfer (only look at college grades) some are 60 but the school I want to go to is 17. Something you should look into

Just curious, but what school are you looking to transfer to kenshi?

UTampa its a private school but public schools have lower requirements as well just to check and see it wasnt a private school thing I looked up UGA and UNC which has 30 credits as their minimum.

timurz, a few of us just transfered from UCR to USC. 'SC has soph admissions, you might want to check that out. And while i share the same feelings of ucr as you do, i am curious what made you hate it at orientation?

i think its because it was like 110 degrees during orientations

UCI takes sophmores as well, i know a few guys that went from R to I... one even got into LA after getting into I.

It just felt like two days of disappointments to me. Took calc in high school but slacked and got a 2 on my ap test. Thought that was good enough to get me back into calc frosh year at ucr. didn’t study for the placement test. turns out it doesn’t.. got placed into pre calc. Although gpa will be good, still cant really transfer anywhere after a year with precalc and no chem.. I don’t know. The whole time I just wanted to leave. Talked to my buddy at ucsb, he said he didn’t want to go back home from his orientation. That’s how much he liked it. i guess ucr just isnt my fit.
